'Southern Charm' Scandals: See Cast's Offscreen Drama

When it comes to the cast of Bravo’s Southern Charm, there is no shortage of drama offscreen. In fact, the onscreen disputes, feuds and moments may seem tame in comparison.

Naomie Olindo and her now-ex, Metul Shah, are the latest names from the franchise to make headlines for turmoil going on between them outside of the show. Hours after the couple suddenly split on Monday, July 12, she took to Instagram Stories with a cryptic message that seemingly confirmed rumors he had cheated. “Nothing will be worse than losing my dad but this is a close second,” the L’ABEYE clothing brand owner shared about their breakup following three years together. “Betrayal is never easy for anyone and I’m just so sorry to anyone else that has stumbled across those terrible messages.”

“I’m absolutely positive I will regret posting this tomorrow but so many of you have reached out saying you’re feeling a similar pain,” the reality star wrote about the heartfelt messages she received online, adding, “I’m so, so sorry.”

Instagram account BestofBravo was the first to report the news that Olindo allegedly discovered Shah was unfaithful just weeks after they moved to New York City together. And sadly, they were not the only couple from the series that weathered a cheating scandal or at least rumors of one.

Madison LeCroy was met with a lot of criticism and curiosity when her costar Craig Conover alleged that she “flew to Miami to f–k an ex-MLB player” during the season 7 reunion in January. The claim led to theories it was none other than Jennifer Lopez’s then-fiancé, Alex Rodriguez. One month later, LeCroy confirmed the claims were about Rodriguez, but denied ever hooking up with him.

Season 1 stars Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel were also going through a messy custody battle in the wake of their 2016 split. In March, it was confirmed that she temporarily lost custody of their two children following the reported filing of a temporary custody order in late February, but she will still have supervised visits.

Naomie and Metul’s Sudden Split

Olindo and Shah are over amid rumors of his infidelity. She opened up about feeling “betrayed” over his actions after reports surfaced claiming he was allegedly sending text messages to another woman when they were still together. The anesthesiologist has yet to speak out about the claims he was unfaithful.

The Love Triangle

After A-Rod was dragged into the mix on the season 7 reunion, LeCroy denied rumors they had gotten physical. “He contacted me. And yes, we DMed,” she said during the special. “But other than that, there was nothing. I’ve never physically seen him, touched him. I am not a f—king liar and I will stand up for that.”

Weeks later, J. Lo and Rodriguez announced their split in April. LeCroy has since revealed she is dating someone new.

Kathryn and Thomas’ Breakup Drama

The exes were at odds while fighting for custody of their daughter, Kensie, and son, Saint. She previously accused her former flame of having a “personality disorder” in October 2018 court docs obtained by Us Weekly.

However, he later fired back in a November 2018 filing, slamming claims that he had been suffering from or being diagnosed with a personality disorder. Instead, he alleged that his ex-girlfriend had “been diagnosed with multiple mental health conditions.” The drama continued when she later claimed he had a party in his downtown home “with illegal drugs present” while he clapped back and accused her of leaving “the minor children with their maternal grandmother so [she] can party and socialize.” Both denied each other’s allegations.

More recently, she lost custody of their two children. “I can confirm the information released last week that Ms. Dennis currently has weekend, daytime supervised visitation with the parties’ minor children and that Mr. Ravenel plans to relocate with the children to Aiken, South Carolina this summer,” her attorney told People in a statement. The exes previously agreed to share joint custody of their kids in 2019, with Ravenel being awarded primary legal custody.

Ashley’s Return

Fans were shocked when Ashley Jacobs previously refused to apologize for her remarks about Dennis during the season 5 reunion, famously calling her an “egg donor.” After some reflection, though, the reality star shared her regrets in an open letter to Dennis and fans.

“I’d like to apologize for how I treated Kathryn, and how badly I disrespected her,” she wrote. “I’m not sure what made me think it was okay to speak to a mother that way. It wasn’t. It was not my place to say anything at all, much less the reckless comments I made. I crossed a line and hurt people who don’t deserve it.”

After the controversy, many people assumed that Jacobs would not return to the series after she announced her exit, but news broke in March 2019 that she would be coming back.

Danni’s Second Thoughts on Wedding

Viewers were also taken aback when Danni Baird made the surprising choice to call off her engagement to Todd Baldree with only weeks to go until their nuptials back in July 2017.

“The main reason [for our breakup] is I had temporarily moved to Greenville [in South Carolina] where his kids live and where his main residence is, which is about three hours away from Charleston,” she later told The Daily Dish. “I just wasn’t happy. I wasn’t working. We had this vision that I would be able to do all this artwork, and it was just too chaotic. I couldn’t.”

“I have a massive amount of respect for him, as he does for me,” Baird added. “And I encourage anybody that goes through a bad breakup, hopefully you can just kind of really focus on the good attributes, not harp on the negative, because literally the negative will just age you.”
