Katie, 40, wore blue eye shadow that made her glowing skin pop during the festivities. The Dawson’s Creek alum also sported a black lace dress with a black jacket and black booties — clearly, she loves the dark shade!

Trouble in Paradise

Katie looked happy to be at the celebration — her first public outing as a single lady. Ultimately, the Ohio native was the one to pull the plug on their relationship, a source told Us Weekly. So, what exactly went wrong? For one, Katie didn’t like being apart from her former beau. “Katie and Jamie’s relationship has been long-distance. He’s been living in L.A. full time, and she’s been in New York,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “It’s been way on and off for years, and Katie’s always had a hard time with it.”

Party All the Time

It’s no surprise that the two Hollywood A-listers went their separate ways since Jamie, 51, was spotted hanging out with two different women in Los Angeles last month. On August 15, Jamie was spotted with a mystery blonde at Delilah and Highlight Room. Two days later, he held hands with singer Sela Vave — who he is currently mentoring — outside Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood. Katie wasn’t happy with Jamie’s lifestyle since they argued “nonstop over his partying,” the source noted.

For the Best?

Unfortunately, it seems like the former flames had different ideas of what their future looked like. “For months he’s been promising to calm his wild ways, but nothing’s changed, and she’s finally come to the conclusion that she wants to be with a guy who’s more mature and ready to settle down,” the insider added. “She also can’t keep an eye on him when he’s in L.A. and is fed up with doing the whole long-distance thing, so she gave him an ultimatum — either move to New York or it’s over!”

Setting the Record Straight

However, the Oscar winner decided to clear the air about his relationship with Sela on August 21. “People are saying I’m dating this girl. Let me just say this, that’s absolutely not true,” he said. “I know the nature of the business that we’re in, so I don’t trip on headlines, but when it comes to that part and the girl and her and what I’m trying to do for her as an artist. I feel that I have to be an elder, her ‘Uncle’ as she calls me and step-in and say, ‘Hey guys, don’t let it be the double standard … I got a 25-year-old daughter, and I don’t date in my daughter’s range … ever!’”

Family First

Katie has been keeping busy these days by spending time with her 13-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise. The two were spotted hanging out together in New York City on August 28. Jamie, for his part, has been spending some time with his family including his sister and his two daughters, Corinne and Annalise.
