Katie Holmes Spotted With Daughter Suri Cruise in NYC for the First Time Following Split From Jamie Foxx
Out and about! Katie Holmes was spotted with her daughter, Suri Cruise, on Monday, August 19 — the same day news broke that the actress and her boyfriend, Jamie Foxx, had called it quits after six years together.
The 40-year-old wore a casual outfit — a gray T-shirt with jeans and white sneakers and sunglasses. Meanwhile, Suri, 13, wore a patterned blouse along with a white long skirt and sandals. Even though Katie wasn’t pictured smiling, she didn’t seem to be bothered by any of the attention she received. It also looked like Suri was trying to make her mama laugh.
That same day, In Touch confirmed the former flames are no longer together. Katie was the one who pulled the plug on her relationship, a source told Us Weekly. So, what went wrong? For one, the Dawson’s Creek alum didn’t like being so far away from her man. “Katie and Jamie’s relationship has been long-distance. He’s been living in L.A. full time, and she’s been in New York,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “It’s been way on and off for years, and Katie’s always had a hard time with it.”
It’s not surprising that the Hollywood A-listers decided to go their separate ways since the actor was recently spotted hanging out with two different women in Los Angeles. On August 15, the Texas native was with a mystery blonde at Delilah and Highlight Room. Two days later, he held hands with singer Sela Vave — who he is currently mentoring — outside Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood. Katie wasn’t happy with Jamie’s lifestyle since they argued “nonstop over his partying,” the source noted.
It seems like the brunette beauty and Jamie are at different places in their lives. “For months he’s been promising to calm his wild ways, but nothing’s changed, and she’s finally come to the conclusion that she wants to be with a guy who’s more mature and ready to settle down,” the insider added. “She also can’t keep an eye on him when he’s in L.A. and is fed up with doing the whole long-distance thing, so she gave him an ultimatum — either move to New York or it’s over!”
Katie — who was previously married to Tom Cruise — and Jamie first sparked romance rumors in 2013 when they were seen dancing together at a charity event in New York. In 2018, the duo was spotted galavanting through New Orleans and Miami. In May 2019, they finally made a rare public appearance at the Met Gala.
It’s a shame these two had to end their relationship since Suri gave her mom the stamp of approval. “Suri goes to [Jamie] for fatherly advice and guidance,” a second source told In Touch. “Suri approves of Jamie and just wants her mom to be happy.”
Well, we hope that Katie is leaning on her daughter during this time.
