Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich Are ‘Just Friendly Exes’ After Reuniting for Lunch Following Split

No hard feelings? Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich are “just friendly exes” after the pair sparked reconciliation rumors following their split, a source exclusively tells In Touch. “They’re getting on great.”

On August 27, Julianne and Brooks made their first public outing together since news broke of their breakup. They joined each other for a casual lunch date in Los Angeles.

While “there’s a possibility that a reconciliation could happen,” the Dancing With the Stars alum “has been on a few dates but there’s no one serious in her life,” the insider shares. “She’s just having fun.”

Although it was the Footloose star’s idea to end their marriage, she and the former professional athlete “remain on good terms,” the source adds. “Having some time apart has been beneficial for both parties. It’s made them reflect on what went wrong in their marriage.”

“They’ve left the door open to giving their marriage another shot and have discussed their issues,” the insider continues, adding that while Brooks may be traveling a lot, he and Julianne “always meet up” when he’s in Los Angeles. “Brooks would take Julianne back in a heartbeat and she does miss him. They don’t want to make the same mistake twice and are seeing what happens.”

Fans first speculated the exes were experiencing marital woes when they decided to quarantine separately amid the coronavirus pandemic. Brooks fled to his home in Idaho for the majority of the lockdown, while Julianne stayed put in California. Although they said the distance worked for them, they announced their split on May 29 after three years of marriage.

Brooks was “OK” quarantining apart from Julianne until she was spotted on a walk with Chronicles of Narnia actor Ben Barnes on April 16, another source exclusively told In Touch at the time. “Brooks still loves Julianne and wants to make their marriage work, but the bottom line is they’re not on the same page,” the source explained of the marital troubles. “She’s too out there for his liking and he can’t keep up with her wackiness and unconventional views on life.”

Julianne and Brooks may be broken up, it seems like they know what’s best for them.
