Jessa Duggar Passionately Defends Sister Joy-Anna Against Mommy-Shamers

Sister to the rescue! Joy-Anna Duggar has been facing backlash for being on a couple’s retreat with her husband Austin Forsyth during their son Gideon’s first birthday. After seeing all of the criticism online, Jessa Duggar took to the comment section and rushed to their defense!

The drama started when Joy-Anna, 21, posted a new photo to their shared Instagram page on February 22. “Getting to spend the weekend with my favorite person! Just the two of us! (Austin’s parents are watching Gideon for us!) #refreshingtime #dateyourspouse #weekendgetaway #livingunitedcouplesretreat @livingunitedcouples,” she captioned the snap of them cozying up.

As you may know, Gideon’s birthday is February 23, so several fans started shading the couple for being on a romantic getaway. “Thought it’d be more important to spend your child’s birthday with them rather than a retreat away like you wanna deny and forget him … this really ain’t it chief,” one person wrote in the comments. “But isn’t it Gideon’s birthday?” another asked, inspiring Jessa, 26, to set the record straight once and for all with a passionate statement on social media.

“All these people acting like you wouldn’t remember it’s the one-year anniversary of the most physically exhausting and simultaneously most joyous day of your life. Really??” Jessa began. “Girl, I know y’all are heading back to celebrate Gideon’s bday, but seriously, even if you did stay away one more day it’s not like he’d know you were celebrating late,” she continued. Jessa assured Austin and Joy-Anna that they are “great parents,” and said their punctuality wouldn’t make a difference at this age anyways.

Joy-Anna later thanked Jessa for her comment and also added, “FYI … we’ve gotten to spend a couple of days away and will be able to celebrate Gideon’s first birthday with him when we get home this evening.” Shortly after, the Counting On star shared a snap of their festivities!
