Gwyneth Paltrow and Ex Chris Martin’s GF Dakota Johnson Hang Out at Derek Blasberg’s Birthday Party
Love triangle goals? Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson seem to be pretty good friends, despite the fact that the 29-year-old is dating 46-year-old Gwyneth’s ex-husband, Chris Martin. Mhmm, that’s different! The two actresses were spotted hitting it off at their mutual friend Derek Blasberg’s 37th birthday party in Los Angeles on Monday, April 22, and we have proof!
The morning after the major celebration, Derek took to Instagram to share two hilarious photos of himself alongside the 42-year-old singer’s current and former flames. “Consciously throupling,’’ the journalist captioned the snaps. Fans immediately lost it! “That’s crazy 😍😍😍 modern familia. Happy bday @derekblasberg ❤️,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in: “Ok I’m trying to pick myself up after seeing this for a minute.” A third added, “awww they get along 😍💕.”
Gwyneth and Chris famously announced their split in 2014 by stating that they were “consciously uncoupling,” after 10 years of marriage — and got slammed for it. Well, who’s laughing now, folks? We know Derek is … all thanks to his creative caption! The Avengers: Endgame star used the term “consciously uncoupling,” while announcing her split from the Coldplay singer all so that she could make “something as bitter as divorce a bit kinder,” especially for her and Chris’ two children, 14-year-old Apple and 13-year-old Moses.
“The most common wound that I heard from children of divorce was, ‘My parents couldn’t be in the same room and couldn’t be friends. It took three years, it took 18 years, it took — God forbid — the death of a close family member for them to sit at the same table,’” Gwyneth confessed while opening up to Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast. “I just thought, ‘I wonder if there’s a way to circumvent that and go directly to the point where we’re friends and we remember what we loved about each other, and constantly acknowledge that we created these incredible human beings together.'”
The Los Angeles native has always approved of whomever Chris had his eye on. “Gwyneth is happy if Chris is happy,” a source gushed to Us Weekly in January 2018. “She only wants the best for him … She trusts his judgment and knows he’s smart about his decisions and who he spends time with. She leaves it at that. She doesn’t scrutinize his choices or who he dates.” However, she may have a favorite … her and Dakota are literally BFFs!
As for Gwyneth’s love life? Well, she’s doing just fine! The blonde beauty married producer Brad Falchuk on September 29, 2018, at her East Hampton home in New York. The two met on the set of Glee in 2014, and the rest was history!
