Lady Gaga Loses Award for Best Actress — But Gets a Sweet Shout-Out From Winner Olivia Colman
And the award goes to … well, not Lady Gaga. Although many expected the 32-year-old to take home the coveted Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in A Star Is Born, she lost to The Favourite‘s Olivia Colman. That said, she did get a sweet shout-out from the actress, who was clearly honored to be in the same category as her.
“Love Lady Gaga!” Olivia, 45, exclaimed during her acceptance speech. Aww.
But don’t feel *too* sorry for the “Shallow” songstress. She took home her first-ever Oscar for Best Original Song. She also got, ahem, cozy with her costar/director Bradley Cooper during their live performance.
One person who was missing from Gaga’s speech? Christian Carino. On Tuesday, February 19, Gaga’s rep confirmed to Just Jared that she and the CAA agent split after nearly two years together. Sadly, it didn’t come as a total surprise. Fans had been speculating for a while that there was trouble in paradise. Right before Valentine’s Day, the singer’s little monsters couldn’t help but notice that her engagement ring was missing when she took the stage to accept her award at the Grammys.
“So, Gaga and Christian broke up, right? There’s no other explanation,” one fan wrote after the singer appeared to be flying solo at the event. “OMFG I’m gonna have a breakdown if Gaga broke off another engagement,” commented another. “She deserves a man who will stick by her for decade after decade.”
It seems like that man won’t be Christian, 50, who also wasn’t honored with a mention by Gaga, 32, in her acceptance speech. The star thanked plenty of people, including her family and Bradley — but her now-former fiancé wasn’t one of them.
