Austin Forsyth, John David Duggar and More Fly to the Bahamas to Help With Hurricane Dorian Relief
They’re stepping up to the plate! After Hurricane Dorian wreaked havoc in the Bahamas, the Duggars decided they needed to do so something. On Tuesday, September 3, Austin Forsyth, John David Duggar, Jana Duggar, Lawson Bates and few other Counting On and Bringing Up Bates stars hopped on a plane to head down to the Caribbean and see what they could do. The reality stars partnered up with a Christian organization called Medic Corps in order to help.
“John, Jana, Jason, and James took off early this morning with a medical and disaster relief team to the Bahamas to help after the massive devastation from #HurricaneDorian,” parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared on Instagram. “They’re now on the ground! Please keep the team and all who’ve been affected by this horrific storm in your prayers!” Joy-Anna Duggar chimed in, “Austin just arrived down in the Bahamas with @mediccorps. They will be some of the first on scene.”
On his Instagram Story, Lawson, 27, shared an update once they’d touched down. “We’re on the ground in the Bahamas with a relief team. There’s absolute devastation. Please pray for everyone affected by #HurricaneDorian,” he captioned a video on Instagram. In the clip itself, he added, “The disaster is horrific. We have a team here for rescue, and we did a fly over to some of the most affected areas just a little bit earlier. As soon as the wind dies down, we’ll be taking the team in to the more affected islands.”
The Bates family offered even more detail. “Lawson traveled with the team in a plane and made it safely to Nassau, and from there they will assist other islands with rescue, medical care, and delivery of water and other supplies,” they shared. As for Nathan Bates, who’s also part of the relief mission, they shared, “[He’s] flying in a helicopter, but had to stop in Great Harbor Cay to wait on water levels and wind to drop. He’s hoping to fly further this afternoon. He said thousands are stranded and in desperate need, so we ask for prayers for safety and we want to lift up all of those in the many Islands of the Bahamas that are in dangerous conditions!!”
In the Instagram comments, the family members who stayed at home have been cheering on their relatives. “Praying for the group and all those affected by the hurricane,” Anna Duggar wrote. Cousin Amy Duggar added, “You guys are amazing! Keep up the good work! Prayers being sent your way!” Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson also shared that they were praying for everyone.
