It’s a bad day to be Jill Duggar! When the former Counting On star learned about the joys of her local public library, she seemed to think that she’d discovered something incredible. When she tried to share that knowledge with her fans, however, she met some serious backlash. Though the famous family is all about a bargain, their followers are frustrated that they neither taught their kids about nor utilized such an amazing free resource.

“We had a blast at the #rogerspubliclibrary this morning with friends! 😃” Jill, 28, shared on her Instagram on Tuesday, August 27. “If you’re in the area, you should look up the different events they have. I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was! 🤗” In the comments, fans clapped back with messages like, “Why were you surprised? Weren’t you taken to the library as a child?” and “Libraries have tons of things like this. Has she never taken her boys to the library before????” Another simply snarked, “Yet no photos of actually fun with books. 😂”

Some fans were glad to see the Duggar daughter getting her kids out of the house, however. Others encouraged her to continue exploring what her library has to offer. “Speaking as a librarian, welcome to the 21st century library!!” one fan wrote. “We love to get kids (and adults) learning and engaging with their community in multiple new, fun ways! I’m excited to see what your future thoughts on libraries are.”

Another fan tried to use the opportunity to convince the one-time TLC star to send her kids to actual school instead of just teaching them herself. “If you think a library is fun for kids, a nursery school is even more awesome!” they wrote in the comments. “Fun craft projects, playtime with lots of other kids their age and a head start on kindergarten.” We’re not sure Jill bought it, but hey, it was worth a shot, right?
