Fans found her comments offensive, but 90 Day Fiancé star Elizabeth “Libby” Potthast Castravet’s sister is standing by what she said. On the Sunday, August 23 episode of Happily Ever After, Jennifer “Jenn” Davis (née Potthast) called Andrei Castravet’s family’s Moldovan cooking “peasant food.” On Instagram, she defended herself against hate from fans.
“OK, so, you guys gotta understand something. Literally just getting off a long-ass flight, coming in, meeting a million people for the first time, film crew in your face, you haven’t eaten anything normal — normal to me, anyway, I’m sorry if I’m offending people — but going in and just being mentally mind-f–ked and then having food in your face that you’ve never seen before in terms of, like, a piece of pig fat on a cracker — raw pig fat — [I am] just not used to that,” Jenn said on her Story. “[I] didn’t feel like eating it. I’m sorry. And you guys are just going bonkers about it. Like, chill. Chill. Because if you were in that situation, you wouldn’t eat it either. So stop.”
In another slide, she snapped a selfie and captioned it, “I’m watching the show with you guys. I know. I sound like a pretentious bitch. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.” She also called out the “haters” directly, writing, “Enjoy watching me on your TV, though. I’ll be in your living room next Sunday, too. I know you can’t wait!”
Libby’s sister and her husband have consistently clashed on the TLC series. From the start, Jenn wasn’t impressed by her new brother-in-law, and she tried to warn her sister that the Moldova native was allegedly just using her to come to the United States. Now that Libby and Andrei have a child together, making Jenn an aunt, the family dynamics are even more complicated.
Jenn isn’t the only family member who doesn’t think the couple is right together. Andrei also recently clashed with his brother-in-law Charlie Potthast. On the August 9 episode of the show, the two men almost got into a physical fight when an argument escalated to the point that Andrei’s wife and friends needed to hold him back. “In America, we do what the f–k we want and we say what the f–k we want,” Charlie taunted. “Get the f–k out,” Andrei retorted. “I’ll f–k you up, man.”
