On Wednesday, April 24, fans will say goodbye to Luke Perry‘s character on Riverdale following his tragic death. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted the heartbreaking news earlier this week.

“This week’s  is the last episode Luke filmed,” the 45-year-old wrote on April 21. “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever … ”

The actor died after suffering a massive stroke on March 4 at just 52 years old. “He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fianceé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends,” Luke’s rep, Arnold Robinson, told In Touch in a statement. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

One day after his passing, Sophie, 18, shared a touching tribute to her late father on Instagram. “A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I,” she said. I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”

On March 6, Jack, 23, also made it clear he was thinking about his dad on social media. “He was a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, he was always Dad. He loved and supported me in everything and inspired me to be the best that I could possibly be,” he wrote. “I’ve learned so much from you, and my heart is broken thinking about everything you won’t be here for. I’ll miss you every day that I walk this earth. I’ll do whatever I can to carry on your legacy and make you proud. I love you, Dad.”

Our continued thoughts are with Perry’s family, friends and loved ones.
