Luke Perry’s Daughter Breaks Silence on His Tragic Death in Emotional Post
She’s breaking her silence. Luke Perry’s daughter Sophie took to Instagram with a heartfelt statement on March 5, thanking fans for their “love and support” after his untimely passing. She recently rushed home from Africa after hearing about her father’s deteriorating health and he sadly passed away yesterday, on March 4, after suffering a “massive” stroke last week.
Sophie, 18, is the daughter of the Riverdale actor and his ex-wife, Rachel “Minnie” Sharp. While taking to social media with her emotional statement, she also shared a throwback snap including her late father. “A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, and in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support,” Sophie began.
“I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I,” she continued.
Sophie sweetly concluded, “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bare with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
Luke was married to his ex-wife, Rachel, for 10 years before they split in 2003. They had two kids together — Jack, 21, and Sophie, both of whom were with the 90210 actor when he passed away at only 52-years-old. It’s reported that his kids will inherit his fortune in the wake of his death.
“He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends,” Luke’s rep, Arnold Robinson, told In Touch in a statement. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.
