They have a system and it works! Deon Derrico and his wife, Karen Derrico, dish about their at-home barbershop and salon in a teaser clip ahead of the Tuesday, August 11, premiere of their TLC reality show Doubling Down With the Derricos

“Growing up with an African American community, going to the barbershop is a regular thing,” the doting daddy shared in the video. Deon said he always enjoyed the ambiance while out and about, so he wanted to create “that atmosphere with [his] boys” in the comfort of their Las Vegas, Nevada abode.

“I cut their hair at home for two primary reasons: money and time. I’m cutting eight childrens’ hair, so I have to block out time in my schedule to do their hair. I absolutely love my barbershop,” Deon gushed in his confessional.

“You want to always try to have a man cave,” the father of 14 told his sons. Deon revealed one of his favorite aspects of having his own barbershop is he gets a chance to “bond with each child and catch up.”

In the clip, the boys said they would still come to “visit” their parents when they got older and Deon quipped that he didn’t even want to think that far ahead.

“The fact we have so many children can be overwhelming, but I am leading them by example. I want to teach them about being calm under pressure,” Deon shared. “I want them to see I’m handling it. This is what we chose.”

When it’s time for the girls to get their hair done, Karen takes the reins and pampers them in their salon at home.

Karen and Deon have a family of 16 and yet, they still keep that spark alive! The show will reveal how they stay productive with their busy schedules and prepare to welcome their most recent three children, who were born in July 2019.

“We had four sets of multiples back-to-back,” the proud mama shared in a previous trailer. “I’ve been pregnant six times, and all of my children were naturally conceived.”

Doubling Down With the Derricos premieres on TLC on August 11 at 10 p.m. ET.
