Back on good terms? Kailyn Lowry confirmed her son Creed has his dad’s last name, Lopez, on a new episode of “Coffee Convos.” On the Thursday, August 13, show, the Teen Mom 2 star revealed she decided to invite ex Chris Lopez to the birth after all — and she even let him have a say in their second son’s name.

Though she didn’t reveal the circumstances that led to her changing her mind, Kail, 28, said she reached out to Chris, 26, the morning that she went into labor. Later during the day, when she thought she needed to go to the hospital to get an epidural, he and a friend helped pack up her car. However, she decided she wouldn’t make it to the medical facility in time, and he was by her side as she gave birth in her bed.

He also helped come up with Creed’s name, but he didn’t get the final say. After a week of deliberating about what felt right for the little boy, the mom of four settled on a moniker that she and her ex had previously talked about. “[With Lux,] Chris and I couldn’t decide, and so I finally just picked a name we both had agreed on in the past … and so I did the same thing this time,” she explained. “I was like, you know what, when Chris and I were talking, this was one of the names — Creed was a name that we had both previously agreed on, and so it kind of was always in the back of my head.”

By the time she welcomed baby No. 4, her ex had changed his mind, but it stuck for her. “Chris was like, ‘I don’t think he’s a Creed,’” she said. “But, you know, Chris and I don’t talk every day. … He wasn’t asking me what the baby’s name was and stuff like that, so I was just like, ‘I’m gonna name him something that we had agreed on in the past.’ And I actually love the name, I love the movie. … I love the definition of it.”

As far as the little boy’s last name, that was a tougher call. When Lux was born, she initially gave him the last name Lopez, then later had it legally changed to Lowry. With their second son, she wanted to give the father a second chance to step up when it came to being in his sons’ lives. “My relationship — or I don’t want to call it a relationship. … My entanglement with Chris is so complicated, and it’s so public and, partially, that’s our fault because we do it to ourselves. I just, I wanna do the right thing, even when I’m upset,” the MTV mama explained.

“I know that there have been periods of time where I felt like he doesn’t deserve to have his last name passed down. … I get so angry and I say a lot of things — that are true. Don’t get me wrong, they’re true. But then I still turn around and try to make other people happy and try to not argue,” she continued. “Nothing I do is going to change someone else’s behavior. However, I feel like this is another attempt of me giving him a chance to not argue about the last name. … [To] try to be there.”

In the past, Kail claimed she wouldn’t allow Chris to have a say in baby No. 4’s name or to be there for the birth. Ultimately, she opted to include him, but she knows the situation is messy. Further complicating matters is the fact that both of her older sons share their father’s family names. “If Isaac was a Lowry, it would be a no brainer. … In a situation like this, I don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong,” she said. “Maybe I should’ve just hyphenated both [Lux and Creed’s last names] and called it a f–king day, because, at that point, they can decide which name they want [once they’re old enough].”
