A month after she announced her breakup on social media, Mackenzie McKee is opening up about her feelings on Instagram. Though she was the one to call it quits, the new Teen Mom OG star hasn’t necessarily been enjoying her new single girl life. On Monday, September 16, she shared that she’s been feeling “broken” and “confused” in the wake of her split. Mackenzie, 24, revealed her newly single status on Twitter on Friday, August 16. After fans watched her relationship with Josh, 26, go through ups and downs on the show, she gave fans an update.

Break
“Due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc., I am deciding my marriage needs a break,” she told her followers. “My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what’s best. Thank you.”

Infidelity
Though she didn’t confirm or deny any cheating, she hinted that the rumors may have played a apart in her decision. “We’ve separated, been unfaithful, and gotten back together,” she said during the couple’s first episode on Teen Mom OG.

Moving Forward
Though she claimed that Josh had “stepped up” in the wake of her mom’s health issues, they continued to have issues — including one memorable fight about a night out at the bar while the father of three was away for work.

Faithful
Though Josh claimed that he’d only lied about going out and that there hadn’t been any other inappropriate behavior, Mackenzie was no longer sure she could trust him. And as she announced their split, she seemed to reference that uncertainty.

Call Out
“To the girls (I know who you are) who called in. Nice try,” she wrote. Though she didn’t specify further what she meant, she’s dropped other hints about her split on social media in the last month.

Holding Back
“You can either grow with me or I outgrow you,” she said in one tweet on August 28. “I will not slow down for anybody.” On August 30, she showed off her muscles and wrote, “Do me wrong and I take it out in the gym.”

Defense
But she doesn’t only have negative things to say. After the reunion episode aired, she defended him on Twitter. “Josh’s one sentence last night: ‘Angie is the most amazing person I have ever met.’ People on Twitter: ‘Josh is trash,'” she shared with a crying emoji and a crying-laughing face.

Standing Her Ground
When a fan insisted that he is trash, she shot back, “His kids don’t seem to think so. I really don’t think so either,” with a shrug. “I don’t think you see who he truly is on TV,” she continued.

All Love
That same day, she told fans, “I wish nothing but heath and blessings on him. My children love and respect their dad. He is my friend. I’m just taking time to grow with God. He will lead me where I belong.”

Adjustment
That doesn’t mean that it’s been an easy transition, though. “Learning to find myself again without having any clue where my future is headed is so hard,” she admitted on September 4. And now she’s opening up even more.

“Posting at midnight because insomnia,” she shared on September 16. “So much of my life right now I’m confused, I’m broken, I’m sad. I just don’t understand, but I’m learning. Every day through this dark tunnel I am learning.”

“Only an idiot like you [would] wait until I’ve fallen completely out of love with you to be everything you were supposed to be this entire time,” she added on Twitter the same day, seeming to speak to Josh directly.

When a fan reminded her that she’s a 10 and Josh is a 2 — referencing a tweet Mackenzie had written just a few days before — she confirmed who the tweet was about. “Dang straight,” she said.

Luckily, Mackenzie still has her family to rely on. And when it comes to finding love again, she’s got her parents’ marriage to look to as a model of success.

“After a rough scary night, mom was finally home and resting and my sister snapped this pic,” she said on September 7, sharing a photo of her parents sleeping side-by-side in bed. “‘Through sickness and health.’ #goals,” she added.

With everything Mackenzie’s mom, Angie Douthit, has been through, her dad has been by her side. “[They are] my absolute favorite love story,” Mackenzie said in June. They’ve got a pretty good one.
