‘Seeking Sister Wife’ Fans Donate to Paige McGee on GoFundMe After Bernie’s Death
On Saturday, June 15, Seeking Sister Wife star Bernie McGee passed away at only 41 years old. The TLC’s star’s death was sudden, and his widow, Paige McGee, has been sharing updates with fans on social media. Now, a family friend set up a GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden for Paige as she mourns the loss of her husband and the father of her children.
“Bernie and Paige McGee loved each other and their children unconditionally,” read the description on the Bernie McGee Memorial Fund. “Unfortunately, they faced the worst sudden devastation that shocked many. [On] Saturday June 15, Paige received a call from Bernie while he was riding his bicycle to let her know he wasn’t feeling well. Paige immediately went to get him but by the time she reached him EMS had to tell her what no wife and mother is ever prepared to hear. Bernie passed away due to heat stroke/heart attack.”
The description went on to explain that Bernie was the sole provider for their family and not only is Paige facing funeral costs, but she also has the everyday living expenses of her house’s lease and raising their two young sons. “The last thing needed is the stress and worry of how she will take care of financial responsibilities,” the description read. As of publication, the GoFundMe raised $650 of its $10,000 goal.
Paige shared a link to Bernie’s obituary in a Seeking Sister Wife fan group on Facebook. “Bernie was born on July 15, 1977, to Johnny Ray McGee and Brenda Howard McGee. Bernie loved the outdoors especially camping, hiking and riding his bike. He never met a stranger and loved his family and friends very much. Bernie was full of life,” the obit read.
Bernie and Paige were featured on season 2 of TLC’s hit reality TV series, Seeking Sister Wife, where they documented their journey as a polygamous couple looking to add a second wife to their family. The family’s costars shared sweet tributes to Bernie on social media in the wake of his death. Our thoughts are with the McGee family during this difficult time.
