So scary. Kim Kardashian admitted during her E! True Hollywood Story special that she fully believed she was going to be harmed when she was robbed in Paris in October 2016. “Right as I was about to fall asleep, I heard guys running up the stairs,” she explained in a confessional clip released early on YouTube. “They wanted my ring and my jewelry, so I didn’t fight back. I just gave them everything. And they tied me up. They wrapped duct tape over my eyes and my mouth.”

Kim, 38, continued, “It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through in my entire life. Just thinking that, you know, you’re about to die. You’re just bracing yourself for the moment that they’re gonna shoot you. And kill you. That ten minutes really changed my whole life.”

Kim Kardashian No Longer Materialistic Paris Robbery

The special will air on October 13, and the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star talks more about the robbery during the episode. “There’s those moments in life that really change you and shake you to your core. My robbery was definitely that moment for me,” she revealed. “As crazy as this sounds, I wouldn’t give up that experience for the lessons I learned from it.” She also shared, “Material things used to be so important to me. I measured my success by my material things. But there is nothing material that is important to me.”

In January 2017, 17 people were arrested after they were suspected to be involved in the robbery. Several confessed and by January 12, 2017, four people were charged and named in association with the crime. They faced charges of armed robbery in an organized gang, handling stolen goods, kidnapping, assisting an armed robbery and kidnapping and criminal association, according to Us Weekly.

These days, it seems Kim and her family make security even more of a priority, and we don’t blame her after that incident. Kim and husband, Kanye West, recently purchased a home in Wyoming to get away from Hollywood for some family time, and an insider recently told In Touch exclusively that when she goes to her new home, “there is a huge security presence along with them.” And while it may be “unwanted and unwelcome” by the locals, it’s likely that it makes Kim feel more secure after her terrifying ordeal.
