Kate Gosselin ‘Hasn’t Tried Reaching Out’ to Son Collin Following His Release From Treatment Facility
Estranged for good? Kate Gosselin hasn’t made any effort to talk to her son Collin after he was released from a treatment facility in December.
“Collin doesn’t want to see Kate, and so he has not,” a family insider revealed to Radar Online. “Kate has not tried reaching out since he left the facility.”
Kate’s ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, gained custody of the 15-year-old after she bailed on a hearing. “He won!” a source revealed to the outlet at the time.
Jon, 42, arrived at the courthouse at around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, dressed in a black coat and suit and he was joined by his legal team, Radar reported at the time. “He looked very serious but calm,” the insider said. “He looked like he had just one thing on his mind: To get custody of Collin.”
Jon and Kate, 43, have been involved in a nasty custody battle over their eight children — 18-year-old twins Cara and Maddy and 15-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Collin, Aaden, Leah, Alexis and Joel. He has been open in the past about how much he missed from his children’s childhoods because Kate was awarded primary custody in their divorce, but now that the children are older, it seems like it’s getting easier for Jon to spend more time with his kids.
Last year, Jon was awarded custody of Hannah and she now “permanently lives” with her dad, according to him. Since then, fans have flooded his Instagram with support. “Kate should be happy her KID is happy. Wait till your kids watch the old shows on how she treated you/others. You stayed calm and now it’s your turn to love,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “I’m so happy you finally get to have a good relationship with her! Every girl needs their daddy!!”
Not everyone is thrilled with him, though. Mady once said, “He makes it seem like we’re being kept from him, which is insane. He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don’t want to see him and maybe realize that if he ever does want a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen.”
She added, “He doesn’t even know us. How can he dare to talk about us?”
