New life, who dis?! Joy-Anna Duggar just became the latest of the Duggar ladies to ditch her family’s strict dress code! In a recent episode of Counting On, Joy was seen skiing on her honeymoon — and was rockin’ totally normal ski pants, as opposed to the skirt contraptions the Duggar ladies have been known to wear in the past (even during physical activities). Even though it seems unconventional, the Duggars have always adhered to their strict, modest dress code even when doing the most grueling of physical activities. In recent years, as the girls have married off one-by-one, they have all begun to explore more “daring” wardrobes.

In the past, the Duggar ladies have explained their decision to dress more modestly by explaining that they believe that their bodies should only be seen by their own eyes and their husband’s. “We do not dress modestly because we are ashamed of the body God has given us; quite the contrary. We realize that our body is a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband…” the four oldest girls wrote in their 2014 book. “We avoid low-cut, cleavage-showing, gaping, or bare-shouldered tops; and, when needed, we wear an undershirt. We try to make it a habit to always cover the top of our shirt with our hand when we bend over. We don’t want to play the peekaboo game with our neckline.”

The girls’ mother, Michelle, previously explained that the girls dress modestly to prevent any “defrauding.” She said, “My kids are taught the definition of defrauding as stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled. We don’t believe in defrauding others by the way we dress.”

These days, we suspect Joy will be all about comfort — maybe even over defrauding — as a first-time mom to a newborn! On Feb. 23, she welcomed her firstborn, son Gideon Martyn, with husband Austin.
