Josiah and Lauren Duggar’s Tribute to Grandma Mary Includes Nod to Asa: She’s ‘With Our Sweet Baby’
They’re grieving even more now. Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson shared a tribute to Grandma Mary Duggar after she unexpectedly passed away on June 9, much like the rest of the Duggar family. But their message included another loss they’ve endured recently — that of their first pregnancy.
“Yesterday, our precious Grandma Duggar went to be with Lord,” the couple’s message on Instagram began. “What [an] amazing and godly woman — she has left quite an amazing legacy. It’s so sweet to know that not only is she with Jesus but also she is with our sweet baby, Asa in heaven! #Grandmaduggar.”
Just four months after their wedding, Josiah, 22, and Lauren, 20, suffered a devastating miscarriage. The Counting On stars revealed the news on February 11, via TLC. “A couple of months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren revealed. Her husband added, “It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.”
Since then, the couple has shared that they were going to name their first baby Asa. When they announced they were expecting again, Josiah and Lauren revealed, “We are so excited to announce that baby #2 is on the way!!!! It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift. So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good!”
Now, sadly, Josiah’s grandmother has passed as well, but it sounds like the duo believes that she’s with the child they would have welcomed had they not miscarried. Several other Duggar family members also shared tributes to Grandma Mary, and many of them indicated that they’re OK with the idea that she’s at peace. A few included the hashtag “#safeinthearmsofJesus,” which is where Josiah and Lauren likely believe their baby to be, too.
