Josiah Duggar Shares Sweet Message to Wife Lauren on Mother’s Day After Suffering a Miscarriage
So sweet. Josiah Duggar shared a message for his wife, Lauren Swanson, on Mother’s Day after the couple suffered a devastating miscarriage.
“To my dear Lauren … Happy 1st Mother’s Day!” the Counting On star, 22, wrote on Instagram on Sunday, May 12. “I have seen you love, protect and how much you have given without getting anything in return. I wish our sweet baby could’ve seen just how wonderful a mother you are.”
He added, “Not all mothers arms get to hold their little one or get to hear their baby’s laughs and cries. You may have missed out on these things since our baby was called home to be with Jesus, but you ARE a mother. I love you, Lauren!”
In February, the pair revealed they miscarried their first child via a clip posted to TLC. “A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren said at the time. Josiah added, “It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.”
The pair, who tied the knot in June, wanted to tell their story because “nobody really talks about it,” she said. “We just wanted to let y’all know that you’re not alone.”
Since then, fans have been rallying around the couple. “Yes, she is,” someone commented on the May 12 pic. “I wish more people realized that loss mamas are still mamas.” Another added, “Thank you for acknowledging her motherhood. Oftentimes, people don’t consider women who have lost babies to miscarriage as mothers, but we absolutely are. We hold our babies in our hearts when we ache to hold them in our arms. Happy Mother’s Day, Lauren.” A third, meanwhile, chimed in, “‘On Mother’s Day I can think of no mother more deserving than a mother that had to give one back’ — Erma Brombeck. Lauren, you are one special mother. I have no doubt your arms will be full.”
Our continued support goes out to Josiah and Lauren during this difficult time.
