They’re officially married! Josiah Duggar and his fiancée, Lauren Swanson tied the knot on Saturday, June 30 after only five months of courtship. The Counting On stars said “I do” a whole seven months earlier than fans expected, and their June wedding date was definitely a big surprise.

Josiah and Lauren got married at the John Brown University Cathedral of the Ozarks in Siloam Springs, AR, according to People. The ceremony was officiated by Lauren’s father Dwain Swanson, and Lauren’s new sisters-in law Jana Duggar and Anna Duggar helped to make eight handmade blush dresses for each of her bridesmaids. Guests were treated to cupcakes, a candy bar, and a strawberry shortcake, heart-shaped wedding cake at the reception.

“What a joy it is to be husband and wife!” the couple said in a joint statement. “Our wedding day was absolutely perfect!”

It seems like Josiah and Lauren tried to trick fans by lying about their wedding date. According to their gift registry on Bed Bath & Beyond which was full of very modest gifts the Arkansas-based couple claimed that they would get married New Year’s Eve 2018.

It’s unclear why they would lie, but it may be because they didn’t want any haters criticizing them on moving so quickly. Josiah and Lauren’s engagement was announced in March, which was about six weeks after they announced their courtship. “We are so excited to announce that Josiah and Lauren are officially engaged!!” the Duggar family wrote in a statement.

“We have prayed for many years that the Lord would bring the right spouses to each of our children. We have known Lauren and her family for a very long time and have seen how she has grown in her knowledge and understanding of the Lord. She is a wonderful, caring, compassionate young lady, full of zeal for Christ.”

Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar, and the rest of the conservative Christian crew added, “We are very thankful for her. We pray that their lives together will be full of joy and happiness and that God will use their lives for His service.”

The soon-to-be bride and groom opened up about their engagement in a video recorded for TLC. “I’m very surprised, kind of speechless,” Lauren said with a giggle. “It’s exciting to be engaged, definitely. I’m still surprised at the idea but I’m just looking forward to making [new] memories with you, Siah.”

Josiah, who shared a friendship with Lauren years before popping the question, gushed: “All the time I got to spend with Lauren just growing up over the years really came to this point where I realized, ‘Hey. She is the one. This is it.’ And I could tell that we worked really good together, we served together.”
