Baby No. 3 Is Here: Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald Introduce Their Addition — a Daughter!
Baby No. 3 is officially here! Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, have officially introduced fans to their third child, a girl! The Counting On stars welcomed their new addition on Sunday, May 26, and confirmed the happy news with Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 28, just a few months after they announced they were expecting. It’s the first daughter for the fam after two boys, and they gave her the cutest little name: Ivy Jane Seewald. At 7 pounds, 14 ounces and 20.5 inches long, she sounds perfect.
“She feels so tiny compared to her siblings!” Jessa and Ben told Us. In the past, the Duggar family has had a history of having big babies. “We’re so grateful to God for this precious gift. She is already so loved. Her big brothers adore her!” Of course, that’s been the case since even before she was born.
Back in January, the parents of boys Spurgeon and Henry shared that their sons would soon have another little sibling to play with, the first grandchild to be born since Jinger Duggar‘s daughter, Felicity, was born in July 2018. Little Ivy is now the 13th Duggar grandchild in total — and sure to be the perfect BFF for her cousin, Felicity. “From the day we found out we were expecting, we both guessed boy,” Jessa and Ben shared at the time. “If our predictions are right, then we already have a ton the clothing and accessories ready to pass down! At the same time, we would absolutely love it if we found out we were having a girl — though we’ve joked that we’d be starting from square one and might have to learn a few things.”
The parents did find out that they were having a girl before the baby was born, but they decided against sharing that info with fans. On May 7, mom-of-three teased her followers with the news. “Ben and I find out the gender every time, but we keep it as our little secret,” she shared on Instagram. “[We] surprise the rest of the family when [the] baby is born.” Though her boys were excited to become big brothers (again in Spurgeon’s case), even they weren’t let in on the insider info. The mom joked that, if they knew, it “wouldn’t stay a secret very long.”
It looks like the two toddlers have been eagerly awaiting this day for a number of reasons, then! “Watching Spurgeon anticipate the arrival of his new sibling has got to be one of the sweetest parts of this pregnancy,” Jessa shared in May. “Henry will pat my belly sometimes and say, ‘Baby!’ because he sees us do that, but I don’t think he truly comprehends what’s about to take place.” He’ll figure it out soon enough — and we’re sure he couldn’t be more thrilled to have a new little sister.
