Gypsy Rose Blanchard Now: See Photos of Her Today

The story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard fascinates people just as much today as it did when she was first accused of conspiring to kill her mother in 2015. It was even retold on Hulu’s The Act streaming series in 2019.

While actress Joey King did an excellent job of portraying the abused daughter of Dee Dee Blanchard and effortlessly captured Gypsy’s looks as a teenager. Fans of the show and those who are enthralled by the real-life case are curious what 30-year-old Gypsy looks like today.

The Louisiana native may be behind bars, but thanks to television interviews, we have some idea what Gypsy Rose looks like as a healthy adult. She was previously engaged to ex-fiancé named Ken. However, Gypsy’s stepmom, Kristy Blanchard, exclusively told In Touch in August 2019 that the pair had called off their engagement.

Before their split, the Mommy Dead and Dearest star told E! that Ken’s family was “completely supportive” of their romance, and it was actually her ex-fiancée’s mother who connected them.

“She [saw] my documentary before he did, and she told him to watch [it],” Gypsy explained, while noting he decided to reach out after watching. “He wrote me a letter of support … in 2017. I wrote him back and pretty soon we just started writing on a weekly basis. We became fast friends.”

In fact, it was Ken’s mom who was also the first to pick up the fact that her son’s feelings had turned romantic. “She told me the whole story about how he talked about me and how he has never talked about a girl like that before. She kind of called it,” Gypsy gushed. “She was like, ‘You like that girl,’ and he was like, ‘No, she is just my best friend.’ It wasn’t until [he visited] that it all kind of came out and we possessed our feelings for each other.”

While Gypsy and Ken’s romance wasn’t meant to be, she found love again and married Ryan Scott Anderson. The pair tied the knot in Livingston County, Missouri, on June 27, 2022, according to the certificate recorded on July 21, 2022, and obtained by In Touch.

Gypsy suffered years of abuse at the hands of her late mother, who likely had FDIA (fictitious disorder imposed on another) or previously known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Dee Dee put her daughter through a series of unnecessary medical treatments over the course of her life, including the removal of her salivary glands, the insertion of a feeding tube and several other surgeries. The abuse only ended when Gypsy conspired to kill her mother with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

While Kristy and other family members do not excuse the murder, they do support Gypsy. Her step-mom previously told In Touch their extended family worried the mother-daughter relationship would’ve ended in death one way or another. If Gypsy hadn’t killed her mom, they fear the violence could’ve gone the other way around.

“Dee Dee would tell me, ‘When I die, I hope she dies with me, because one can’t live without the other,’” Kristy admitted In Touch. “Now thinking back, it’s like, ‘Oh my god, she would’ve ended up — She would’ve killed Gypsy. She would have.”

All the Lies

Why would Dee Dee lie about such a thing? Well, no one’s really sure why Gypsy’s mother did the things she did to her. It’s very likely that Dee Dee had FDIA and fabricated Gypsy’s illnesses and diseases — even going so far as to harm her with unnecessary medical prescriptions and procedures. But that diagnosis can’t be made now that Dee Dee is dead.

The Crime

Gypsy’s ex-boyfriend Nick was found guilty in November 2018 of first-degree murder for being a co-conspirator to the crime of murdering Dee Dee.

However, Oxygen reported that Gypsy actually stole the knife used to kill her mother from Walmart and gave it to him. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison for their crime and remains there today.

Gypsy’s Family Fears She’ll End Up in Prison Again After Release

Gypsy’s family friends Fancy Marcelli and Titania Gisclair are concerned she could “end up back in prison” after her sentencing ends, they exclusively told In Touch in August 2021.

“Gypsy has served 80 percent of her sentence. She’s supposed to get out in 2025, but I worry about what’s going to happen to her,” Marcelli said at the time. “She doesn’t want counseling, which the prison offers. She doesn’t feel that she needs any help. She needs better people around her.”

Marcelli said Gypsy needed “to change her behavior” for the better before she’s released, “but she’s not open to it,” claiming she is “still putting on a show for the parole board.”

Gypsy Has Dated Multiple Men in Prison

Gypsy’s friends also told In Touch that she has dated multiple men while behind bars following her split from ex-fiancé Ken.

“I’m afraid she’ll meet someone and marry him,” Marcelli said, noting Gypsy has talked to several men from behind bars. “These are guys from the support groups, the Gypsy support groups,” she explains. “They attached themselves to Gypsy, and a lot of them just want fame. One of the guys was 20 years older; they’ve already broken up. Some of the guys have even gone to the prison to meet Gypsy.”
