Talk about an awesome surprise! On Friday, February 15, during the Green Bay, Wisconsin, Meaning of Life tour stop, Kelly Clarkson gave her fans exactly what they never knew they needed: a cover of Lady Gaga’s song “Shallow.” The pop star’s rendition was so good that now people are saying she is better than the Oscar nominee. Awkward … Watch the video above to see the epic performance, and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

One person wrote, “I prefer this version!” while another echoed, “She really just shat over Gaga’s version. I’m CTFU.” A third chimed in, writing, “I’ve listened now to both Kelly’s and Lady Gaga’s performance of ‘Shallow.’ And ladies and gentlemen, I love Kelly’s version better, IMHO.”

Throughout the tour, the American Idol alum, 36, live streams on Facebook for her Minute and a Glass of Wine section, where she tries to connect with fans who couldn’t come see her perform live. Kelly took a minute to talk to the audience about her love for the “Born This Way” singer, 32.

“It’s cool just to know someone that talented is also really nice,” she said about Lady Gaga. “So anyway, I have been rooting for her for a while and this song, I just love it. It’s from the movie that she is nominated for the billion awards for, and I hope she wins, but I thought she and Bradley Cooper did such an awesome job with this song, it’s called “Shallow” and so we are going to do our version of it.”

The Texas native couldn’t help but joke to the crowd that she might not be as good as the original singer. “Obviously, I don’t have a Bradley Cooper here, so I am just holding it down. I hope I don’t suck and if I do, I hope she doesn’t see it.”

Lady Gaga has yet to comment on her cover, but clearly, the blonde beauty looks up to the New York native.

“And this chick is amazing,” Kelly gushed at the concert. “We’re really different but at the same time we’re really similar in the fact that she just loves music and that’s why she’s doing what she’s doing. Honestly, I remember her first single, we actually did a show together combined for some event and she is one of the only artists that has ever — she wrote me a handwritten note saying, ‘Thank you so much, it was an honor to open for you.’”
