Fans Accuse Hailey Baldwin of ‘Copying’ Selena Gomez After Posting Similar Selfies Days Apart
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Not according Selena Gomez‘s fans. Several took to Hailey Baldwin‘s Instagram on Sunday, April 7, to slam the 22-year-old for seemingly “copying” the pop star.
“Selena just posted a selfie of herself wearing a white vest!” one person snapped. “And you also took a selfie wearing a … 😑 Are you still copying Sel or … ?” Another agreed, writing, “Well said!! I thought the same thing! I don’t get it :/” A third and fourth chimed in with, “This is so true!” and “…… hmmm right.” Sigh.
The comments were in response to a sultry selfie Selena, 26, posted on Friday, April 5, rockin’ a white tank top (not a vest) and long waves. In Hailey’s pic, she, too, is wearing a white ensemble. Luckily, several users came to their defense.
“So Selena’s the only person in the world that can post a picture wearing white?” someone questioned. Another simply fumed, “PLEASE go find yourself a life!”
Justin Bieber, who dated Selena on and off for years, is now happily married to Hailey. Clearly, the “Sorry” crooner pays attention to online trolls, though, because he took to Instagram to defend his wife after someone wrote, “You are NOT in love with Hailey! You only married her to get back at [Selena Gomez].”
“You’re immature. The fact that you have an account dedicated to dissing my wife and I is absolutely absurd,” Justin wrote on Tuesday, March 26. “Why would I dedicate my whole life to someone in marriage to get back and my ex? Anyone who believes this is mean spirited or 10 years old or younger because a logical person doesn’t talk or think this way. You should be ashamed of yourself, really. I absolutely loved and love Selena. She will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me, period.”
The Grammy winner continued, “The fact that you want to spend your day dedicating yourself to hate says a lot about you, and if this was some sick ploy to get my attention [sic] are wrong on so many levels. I’ve seen multiple people say things like this and will never respond again to a message like this because I don’t like to give my energy, but this is a reply to all immature sick people who send Hailey hurtful messages like ‘He always goes back to Selena’ or ‘Selena is better for him.’ YOU HAVE NO IDEA MY LIFE and what’s good for me!!”
