Dakota Johnson Is Bonding With Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Apple: ‘It’s Very Easygoing’
Connecting with the kids! Dakota Johnson, who is dating musician Chris Martin, has started to bond with her boyfriend’s daughter, Apple, a source exclusively told In Touch. But how does Apple’s mom, Gwyneth Paltrow, feel about it?
“Dakota isn’t overstepping her boundaries with Chris and Gwyneth’s children, and that’s the reason they all get along so well,” the insider revealed to In Touch. “It all happened very naturally.” That’s good news for everyone involved because introducing new significant others to kids after a divorce can certainly be tricky.
The source continued, “Gwyneth knows the territory well, her husband Brad [Falchuk] has two kids, so she really appreciates Dakota bonding with Apple. It was actually Apple who initiated the friendship, she really likes hanging out with Dakota, who’s almost 20 years younger than her mom, so they relate on a whole different level.” Apple is 14, so yeah, we can see how that could happen.
Apparently, Dakota, 29, and Apple like to shop and “go for coffee” together sometimes. “They talk about boys, it’s very easygoing,” the source noted. “Dakota knows her place, she isn’t pretending to be Apple’s mom or one of her girlfriends.” They added that “Apple is a very mature 14-year-old, she understands her parent’s relationship, their solid friendship, and she feels lucky to have them both in her and her brothers’ life. Apple would love her dad to marry Dakota.” Aww!
Gwyneth, 46, and Dakota were actually spotted hitting it off at their mutual friend Derek Blasberg’s 37th birthday party in Los Angeles on April 22, so clearly, they get along well. Plus, the Avengers: Endgame actress admitted in an interview with ES Magazine in January that she and her ex-husband talk all the time.
“Yes. I think we’ve managed to really stay a family,” she told the outlet. “Chris is a very close friend. I see him every day, I talk to him every day. And it was very difficult, but I think you see in the children that they got through it, so I am proud of us, I really am. We kept to our commitment that we would put the children first.” It seems like Dakota is committed to that as well. Apple — as well as Gwyneth and Chris’ son, Moses — are obviously very lucky kids!
