He got the gig. Many Counting On fans likely know that Derick Dillard is currently in law school — in fact, he and his wife, Jill Duggar, have had “date nights” there in the past. So far, it sounds like his hard work is paying off, and he just landed a law clerk job with the Arkansas Attorney General’s office. That’s nothing to scoff at!

According to Derick’s LinkedIn page, he was a Public Service Fellow with the Federal Public Defender in Fayetteville, Arkansas from May to June 2019, and began this new job in July. He also lists his time as a J.D. Candidate at the University of Arkansas School of Law, Fayetteville from August 2018 to now as “experience.”

Derick, 30, is performing his duties in Little Rock, which could be why it seems like he, Jill and the boys are in a different house in some of their recent family videos on Instagram. In his new role, he works on “various legal research and writing projects for the criminal department,” according to his profile.

Jill, 28, shared the big news that her hubby was starting law school on the Dillard Family Blog in August 2018. “We are excited to announce our future plans!” the reality TV alum wrote at the time. “We will be remaining stateside for now as Derick is beginning law school at the University of Arkansas. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to direct our family in this new chapter of life!”

Jill and Derick’s social media followers have questioned in the past whether the father of two had a job, and at least for now, the answer is yes. In September, fans had questions when Jill wrote on Instagram, “Love this man! He gets up early to head out before traffic gets bad, works all day, then comes home after most people and puts out more energy to invest in our boys and me!” One person wrote, “He doesn’t work though,” and another replied, “Full-time college is not a job! Does it pay him? No.”

Derick was also briefly hired to drive students around during a weekend of worship at the Student Leadership University’s Lift Tour 2018 after he was seemingly fired from Counting On in November 2017 for making transphobic remarks about I Am Jazz star Jazz Jennings. It seems like he’s landed on his feet, though. Are you impressed by Derick’s newest occupation?
