After Amy Duggar rushed to the hospital with early contractions, she realized she needed to take it easy, but she didn’t realize just how easy that would be. After heading to a follow-up doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, September 24, she found out that she actually needs to be on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. At 38 weeks along, she doesn’t have too much time left to wait, but she’ll be doing that waiting at home. The occasional Counting On star shared the update with fans on her Instagram Story, posting a video about her appointment and a photo after the fact.

“Bed rest ’til baby comes,” Amy, 32, told fans. “#38Weeks.” Earlier in the day, she had a special message for those of her followers who’d been through pregnancy and giving birth before and had a special tip to share. “Hey, everybody. … I am in [my] doctor’s office, waitin’,” she said. “It’s our 38 weeks with this little guy. I just wanted to say for all of those that told me that I didn’t have to check for dilation, thank you so much. I did not know you could refuse that, and so it just makes a world of difference just to kind of give your — give yourself a little break there. So thank y’all so much!”

The star had her dilation checked just a few days earlier at the hospital, and it wasn’t exactly a pleasant procedure. “Checking for dilation hurts,” she admitted. “[It] hurts freaking bad, and I seriously should write a book about the real stuff that happens during pregnancy. I promise I wouldn’t sugar coat a thing!! LOL!” The mama-to-be has been real with her followers all throughout this journey, posting about how her unborn son, Daxton Ryan, has kept her up with his kicking and gone “all kung fu panda on mom’s bladder.”

The Duggar cousin’s relatives may have given her some important parenting advice, but it sounds like they skipped the pregnancy advice. “They just told me to love on that baby and take time, just like spending time just bonding with Dax when he’s here,” Amy told In Touch in August. “Skin on skin and that kind of thing.” Their other piece of advice? “[To] not rush back to work.” We’ll see about that last bit. Daxton will be the star’s son, but her clothing shop is her baby.
