‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Amber Portwood Gives Birth — Welcomes Baby Boy With Boyfriend Andrew Glennon
Bring on the blue! Amber Portwood has given birth to a baby boy. The Teen Mom OG star welcomed her first child, James Andrew, with boyfriend Andrew Glennon on Tuesday, May 8, a few days before her original due date of Mother’s Day.
Amber is already a mom to nine-year-old daughter Leah from her previous relationship with Gary Shirley and her rep confirmed the birth to Us Weekly. Amber revealed on Sunday that she was going into early labor, tweeting, “Another nocturnal night with my uncomfortable preggy belly but it’s all worth it. I’m [three centimeters] dilated and home waiting for labor! Wonder if I’ll make it to my due date? Wish me luck loves! Goodnight.”
Andrew also gushed about his baby boy, captioning a photo of Amber and their newborn son, “Could not be happier. Such beauties.” Amber first announced she was expecting her second child this past November, sharing the exciting news on Instagram. “Thank you everyone for all the kind words,” the 27-year-old wrote in the caption. “I’m very excited for my future with Andrew and our little family we are starting together! Love always.” However, this pregnancy has not been easy for Amber.
“My morning sickness has been getting worse, so I went to the doctor and found out I have gestational diabetes,” Amber revealed in an episode the MTV show. “I feel like I could just like go to sleep right now,” she told Andrew. “I need to eat some fruit or something. Maybe my sugar’s just low. This pregnancy — I don’t know if it’s because I’m older — has definitely been a lot more rough.”
On the other hand, Amber and Andrew, who met while she was filming Marriage Boot Camp with her ex-fiancé Matt Baier, had no difficulties when it came to picking their baby boy’s name, which was inspired by Andrew’s late father. “Andrew was very close to his father. That’s the main reason he got into cinematography — his father and his grandfather,” she shared. “He really wanted to honor his father and I thought that was a beautiful thing. I even was thinking of putting my dad’s middle name in there, but my brother is named after my dad so we just went with James Andrew Glennon. It means a lot and I love the name.”
