It's the real deal! Just two days after rumors started swirling that Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood is expecting her second child, she has officially confirmed the news! She took to Instagram to share a sweet, beachy pregnancy announcement.
"Thank you everyone for all the kind words," the 27-year-old wrote in the caption. "I'm very excited for my future with Andrew and our little family we are starting together! Love always."
Her Teen Mom franchise co-stars took to Twitter to shower her with messages of love and support. Her bestie and TMOG co-star Catelynn Lowell wrote, "Congratulations babe, I love you and can't wait to see you at Friendsgiving." Cate's hubby Tyler Baltierra wrote, "CONGRATS AMB [sic]! We are so happy for you & can’t wait to meet that little baby!" And Teen Mom 2 newcomer Briana DeJesus also reached out to Amber on Twitter, writing, "Congrats, hope it’s a boy! LOL."
Amber said that she was "a little scared" when she first found out that she was expecting her her first baby with new beau Andrew Glennon. “I just kind of sat down and thought about it and realized that it was a big step in my life and it was a good thing actually, and I was really happy within 30 minutes,” she revealed to Us Weekly. "After the initial shock, it was nothing but happy thoughts and just enjoying my time with my boyfriend. We’re both very happy.” The news comes after fans noticed she wasn't at the recent reunion filmed in LA.
Days later, Amber told the magazine that she was hesitant about spilling the exciting news to her family. “I was nervous,” she said. “Obviously it’s non-traditional. Usually parents want you to be married first and things like that. But you know me, if I didn’t do things the way I did, I wouldn’t be me.”
To the Never Too Late author’s surprise, her loved ones were ecstatic. “They ended up being very excited and happy for us, so it all turned out well,” Amber said. “Andrew just told his family as well and they’re very happy for us.”
The new baby will join Amber’s eight-year-old daughter Leah, whom she shares with her former fiancé Gary Shirley. In the past, Amber has been open about how another child may not be in her future due to the medication she’s on for her borderline personality disorder.
“I just found out that I got re-diagnosed with borderline personality and bipolar disorder, and I’ve been taking three different medications that now I’m going to have to take for the rest of my life. I can’t get pregnant on this medication,” she explained on an episode of the hit reality TV series that aired earlier this year. “I can get pregnant, but it would mess up the fetus.”
When she made those statements, she was dating her former fiancé Matt Baier, with whom she ended things earlier this year. Amber began dating her new man over the summer after meeting while filming Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars with her troubled ex, Matt. At the time, Andrew was working as part of the reality show’s crew.
They made their public debut at the MTV VMAs, where Amber said she was hoping to take things slow with her new beau. “We’re going slow and we’re just trying to be smart about everything, which is good to find somebody on your level like that,” she gushed. “I think we just kind of fell into this groove of really enjoying life with each other for a while, so it’s kind of fun and it’s kind of serious in a a way as well, but we’re trying not to put too much pressure on a relationship.”
