Adam Sandler Asks Fans to Donate to Charity in The Wake of Cameron Boyce’s Untimely Death
Several stars have publicly shared their despair after Cameron Boyce suddenly passed on at the age of 20. Of these stars is Cameron’s former costar, Adam Sandler, who asked fans to donate to charity in the late actor’s honor.
The comedian, 52, posted a professional image of Cameron with the caption, “Cameron Boyce (@thecameronboyce) worked hard to help other people through great charitable organizations like @thirstproject & @launitedway. Let’s show our love and respect by continuing to support them in his name.”
The Thirst Project raises money for safe drinking water around the world. The charity posted a moving tribute to the actor highlighting his kindness and dedication to helping others.
“We just wanted to take the time out to say THANK YOU to everyone who has been messaging us over the last 24 hours sharing your memories, sending your condolences, and asking how you can help support Cameron’s goal to end the water crisis,” wrote the Thirst Project in an Instagram post on Monday, July 8.
“First and foremost, we’d ask you to carry on Cameron’s legacy by being inspired by his character. Those who knew him best said that he always stayed true to himself and stood for what he believed in. Be strong in your convictions and speak up if you feel something is an injustice. He would’ve wanted all of us to have the courage to be a Pioneering Spirit. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated & given in Cameron’s memory over the last 24 hours.”
In addition to helping with the water crisis, Cameron also worked with United Way of Great Los Angeles. The L.A. based charity aims to end homelessness and poverty in the Los Angeles area.
Cameron and Sandler worked closely together back in 2010 on the set of Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2.
“Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around,” Sandler wrote. “Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.”
The Boyce family confirmed to Us Weekly that the Disney star passed on Saturday, July 6. A spokesperson verified that Boyce died from a seizure “as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy.”
