Pedro and Chantel are basically the Romeo and Juliet of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise: their relationship seems legit and they seem genuinely in love, but their feuding families create a lot of tension and problems in their marriage because Pedro’s family does not accept Chantel and Chantel’s family does not accept Pedro

The feud between Pedro and Chantel’s family (or as Pedro refers to them: The Family Chantel) started all the way back during season 4 when the couple was first introduced on the flagship show, 90 Day Fiancé.

Chantel explained that she was introduced to Pedro online by a mutual friend who set them up because she wanted to learn Spanish and he wanted to learn English.

Over time, their lessons turned into love and the couple dated long distance, with Chantel visiting Pedro multiple times in the Dominican Republic. During her third visit, Pedro proposed.

After she returned home to Atlanta, Georgia, she filed for the K-1 visa process, which would allow Pedro to enter the United States legally as the fiancé of an American citizen. Once Pedro arrived in the states, the couple would have to get married within 90 days or Pedro would have to return to the Dominican Republic.

But instead of telling her family the truth about how Pedro entered the U.S., she lied and told them that Pedro was in America on a student visa. She surprised them with the truth just days before their wedding date.

Ever since then, Chantel’s family didn’t trust Pedro and they feared that he was just using their daughter for a green card.

After that, Pedro’s family did not like the way Chantel’s family treated Pedro and in turn, they disliked Chantel.

It didn’t help that Chantel was upset because once Pedro got his green card and started working, he would send money and gifts back home to his mother. Lidia, and sister, Nicole.

Nicole and Chantel also had a misunderstanding right before Chantel and Pedro’s second wedding in the Dominican Republic.
During their argument, Lidia said that if Chantel doesn’t trust Pedro or his family, that she should let him go. Nicole agreed and said “divorcia te en punto,” which means “divorce him, period” in Spanish but Chantel thought Nicole said “puta,” which mean “bitch” in Spanish. That led Chantel to deliver one of the most scathing insults in 90DF history, calling Nicole a “bitch ass, slut ass, bitch ass whore.”

Even though Nicole didn’t insult Chantel, they still didn’t mend things after that blowout argument. In fact, things were still tense between them when Pedro invited Nicole to visit them in Georgia. The sisters-in-law continued to get into disagreements during Nicole’s visit, when eventually led to the blowout fight scene between Pedro and Chantel’s brother, River Everett, last season.

Now, it looks like there’s no chance at reconciliation between Nicole and Chantel any time soon.

A fan asked Chantel, “How is your relationship with Nicole since the fight?” She responded, “the same.”

And it doesn’t seem like Chantel will be planning a trip back to the Dominican Republic to visit her in-laws any time soon. When a fan asked if she likes DR, she responded, “Yes it is beautiful but my in-laws taint the experience for me.”
