Poor Zac Efron! The hunky 31-year-old ended up in the hospital on February 8 after an apparent ski accident lead to a torn ACL. He quickly took to Instagram to let his fans know what happened, and to promise he would be back in action soon.

“I tore my ACL shredding the gnar,” he said, along with a skiing emoji and scowling emoji. “But all is good. I opted for surgery so I can come back stronger than ever. Thank you to Dr. Kvitne and his team at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center. I’ll keep you updated as I heal and progress! Thanks for all the love and positivity!”

The photo Zac included shows him laid up in a hospital bed wearing a huge black brace on his left leg and giving fans a thumbs-up. We’re glad his spirits are high, because that sure looks painful. In an Instagram story not long after, he revealed he’ll be spending his time recovering the way most millennials would: binging his fave TV show.

“I’m about to watch Game of Thrones all the way through, start to finish, for probably the sixth time,” he said while hobbling on crutches in the clip. “Let’s go.” Unfortunately, the injury means Zac will have to take some time off from promoting his new film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, in which he portrays the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy. Lily Collins — who costars alongside Zac in the film — sent her wishes for a speedy recovery.

“All that adventure,” she wrote in the comments. “Get well quickly and feel better!!! We gots lots to do :)” She’s definitely right about the adventure. Zac is certainly a thrill junkie, and constantly posts pics participating in extreme sports like surfing, sandboarding, rock-climbing, scaling waterfalls — you name it, he’s probably tried it. Let’s just hope he’s a little bit more careful from now on!
