Not meant to be? Channing Tatum and Jessie J‘s relationship may have been doomed from the start, In Touch has exclusively learned following their split. “Channing jumped into a relationship with Jessie and fell head over heels in love. But it was short-lived,” a source told In Touch. “With Jessie’s busy schedule — she’s been traveling a lot — they were barely spending any time together.”

The duo, who dated for over a year, both brought their own complications to the relationship. “Jessie is free-spirited and doesn’t want to be tied down,” the insider added. “Plus, he’s still recovering from his messy divorce with Jenna and is prioritizing his family.”

Us Weekly was the first to report the news of their split.

The brunette beauty and the Magic Mike star went public with their romance in November 2018 — just seven months after Channing and his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan, called it quits after nine years of marriage.

Over the summer, Jessie showed the Alabama native around England — where she is from — with his daughter, Everly, whom he shares with the 39-year-old dancer. “Jessie played tour guide for Channing and Everly, and they had a blast sightseeing all around London, visiting Hampton Court Palace, including the infamous maze,” a source told Life & Style exclusively in July. “This isn’t their first get together, either. Everly warmed up to Jessie almost immediately after meeting in Los Angeles. It’s a sign, not only that Jessie and Everly get along tremendously, but that Channing and Jessie are getting serious.”

Even though Everly’s parents are no longer together, the 6-year-old seemed excited about her dad’s new lady. “Jessie has passed the biggest test of all — Channing’s daughter Everly loves her,” the insider added.

As for Jenna? The author released her memoir, Gracefully You: Finding Beauty and Balance in the Everyday, in October, and opened up about her relationship with Chan. In the book, she not only called their split a “dark and difficult” time for her, but admitted she felt “blindsided” after he moved on with Jessie J.

Two months later, Channing told his Instagram followers he would be taking a hiatus. “I’m gonna take a break and come off socials for a minute. I’ve been trying to get inspired and create again,” he wrote at the time. “And to be honest, I don’t really feel or at least I haven’t felt very creative on social in the last couple of years now. I’m gonna go and be just in the real world for a while and off my phone.”

Meanwhile, the Flirty Dancing host found love with Steve Kazee, and the two are expecting their first child together in spring 2020. The lovebirds can’t get enough of each other as they are frequently spotted out and about together and constantly post cute snaps on social media. Jenna might even be in for a special surprise very soon!

“Jenna says she’s still waiting for a proposal, but she knows it’s coming,” a second source told Life & Style. “Steve isn’t giving away hints, but friends say it will probably be around the holidays.”

We hope Channing and Jessie both find what they’re looking for in the new year!
