Congrats are in order for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom! The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day and it looks like they are over the moon. So, since the pop star, 34, will be walking down the aisle, we decided to take a look back at her dating history. Scroll through the pics below to see her famous exes.
The brunette beauty dated the Sons of Anarchy actor from 2005 to 2006. Sadly, he died in a tragic accident when he fell from a rooftop in 2012. “A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “She had to separate from him … to get ahead and focus on her career.”
The “Teenage Dream” singer and the Gym Class Heroes frontman dated from 2007 to 2008. In 2010, he admitted that his song “Don’t Pretend” was about his ex. “At the end of the day, I think anyone who has been through some s—t can relate to that song,” he told Complex magazine. “It could have been about my girlfriends before, but I’ma keep it real with you, it was definitely about Katy Perry.” Meanwhile, Katy’s song “Circle The Drain” was supposedly about Travie.
The duo supposedly dated in early 2009, but neither confirmed anything at the time. During a livestream in 2017, the California native revealed that her song “The One That Got Away” was about Josh. “We did [date],” the songwriter confessed on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in September 2018. “We were both very private, and so we realized we were better as friends. And we’ve been very, very good friends to this day. She’s the best. But I was not expecting that. That was a double take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that.”
Russell Brand and Katy hit it off at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and got married in India shortly after in October 2010. The pair called it quits after 14 months and finalized their divorce in 2012. “He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him,” the Grammy nominee revealed to Vogue in July 2013. “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.” Yikes, it seems like it was for the best.
In 2012, Katy briefly dated the Florence + The Machine guitarist but insisted it was nothing serious. “[It’s] not even appropriate to label [us a couple],” she told USA Today at the time. “There are times I go out and meet people and flirt, but it’s not really appropriate to have anything serious.” The two couldn’t stop packing on the PDA when they were spotted at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2012.
Katy dated the “No Such Thing” crooner in 2012 but broke up in 2014. Even though the former couple reunited in 2015, they realized they ultimately couldn’t make things work. The hunk confessed to the New York Times that one of his songs called “Still Feel Like Your Man” was inspired by his ex. “Who else would I be thinking about?” he said in 2017. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
The DJ and Katy dated for almost a year until they broke up in March 2015. In 2017, James Corden made Katy rank her exes in bed, and Diplo came in third compared to John Mayer and Orlando Bloom, who came in first and second, respectively.
The couple first met in January 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty and stayed together until February 2017. The lovebirds rekindled their romance in January 2018, and now they are ready to get married. On Valentine’s Day 2019, the actor got down on one knee. Katy showed off her unique engagement ring on Instagram and captioned the post, “Full bloom.” The hitmaker finally got her happily ever after!
