Family drama. Wendy Williams’ estranged husband, Kevin Hunter, and son, Kevin Hunter Jr., reportedly got into an “explosive physical altercation,” resulting in the cops being called. The talk show host’s son was later arrested on assault charges, In Touch can confirm.

“[Kevin Jr.] was given a summons,” the Essex County Prosecutor told Radar about the incident, which took place near their New Jersey home. “This is a matter that will be handled in family court. So in terms of future court appearances they will not be open to the press or the public. He was processed in West Orange and then released to appear on a summons at a later date.”

Hunter Jr., 18, was reportedly whisked away in cuffs and taken into custody by the West Orange Police Department after the heated dispute which occurred on May 21 at 9:50 p.m. The argument was allegedly over Hunter Sr.’s demand for spousal support. Things quickly escalated and Hunter Sr., 46, reportedly put his son into a headlock to calm him down after he became aggressive and “Kevin Jr. punched his father in the face,” an insider told Radar. The investigation is still pending.

Despite everything that transpired between the two recently, Williams’ estranged husband “loves his son and cares about his future,” the source clarified. “He wants the best for him.” It’s also been reported that Hunter Sr. is not planning to press any charges against his son following their fight.

Meanwhile, Hunter Sr. and Williams are still in the midst of a divorce. The TV personality filed for divorce in April 2019, after 21 years of marriage. Split rumors had been swirling around Hunter and Williams for some time, due to reports that he was allegedly cheating on her. Hunter is seeking spousal support from Williams, demanding “permanent” alimony, child support and legal fees.

Back in April, Hunter Sr. released a public apology to Williams. “I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans,” part of it read. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”
