Travis Kelce has solidified himself as a millionaire thanks to his impressive career in the NFL, but his star is only rising more in large part because of his relationship with Taylor Swift, leaving fans old and new curious about his net worth.

How Does Travis Kelce Make Money?
Most of Travis’ income comes from his career as a professional football player. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2013 NFL Draft, and he helped the team win Super Bowls LIV and LVII.
Travis signed a four-year extension contract with the Chiefs for $57,250,000 in 2023, which averages to an annual salary of $14,312,500.
Following his third Super Bowl victory in February 2024, Travis signed a two-year extension with the Chiefs in April 2024. Multiple reports claimed that the new deal solidified Travis as the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, with him now making $17.25 million per year.

Another source of Travis’ income comes from cohosting the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, who previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Eric was right on the money, as Travis and Jason signed an exclusive ad-sales and distribution rights deal with Amazon’s Wondery worth more than $100 million, Variety reported on August 27, 2024.
“We couldn’t be more excited to team up with Wondery for the next phase of ‘New Heights,’” the Kelce brothers said in a statement. “We love this show and the fan base that has grown with us over the last two seasons. Wondery understands the shared vision and will offer a wealth of experience and resources to take us to ‘New Heights.'”
Travis and Jason were also the subjects of the 2023 Prime Video documentary Kelce, which follows the brothers preparing to play against each other during the Super Bowl and contemplating when the right time to retire is.
In October 2023, Travis launched a line of prepared barbecue meals at Walmart under the name Travis Kelce’s Kitchen. The line includes Kansas City comfort food favorites like bacon mac and cheese, baked beans and sausage, various brisket dishes and sausage/meatball marinara with peppers and onions.
The athlete filed six trademark requests in Ohio in October 2023, according to online records viewed by In Touch. Travis requested to trademark his name, as well as the phrases “Flight 87,” “Alright Nah,” “KillaTrav” and “Kelce’s Krunch.” He regularly uses “Alright Nah” as his signature catchphrase, while “KillaTrav” is his Instagram handle and “Flight 87” references his Chiefs jersey number.

Travis Kelce Is Branching Out into Television
While Travis is known for his athletic abilities, the NFL football star is bringing his talents to primetime television. Travis landed the hosting job for Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, which is a spinoff of the game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with ‘Are you Smarter than a Celebrity,’” the three-time Super Bowl winner told Prime Video in an April 2024 press release. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
Also dipping his toes into scripted television, Travis landed his first acting role in Ryan Murphy’s series Grotesquerie. The FX series started production in May 2024 and is slated to premiere on September 25, 2024. Travis is listed on IMDb as appearing in all 10 episodes.
The athlete is additionally branching out into film. Adam Sandler revealed during an August 20, 2024, appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon that Travis will have a cameo in the long-awaited sequel to his iconic golf comedy, Happy Gilmore.
What Money Problems Has Travis Kelce Had?
Despite earning an impressive salary, Travis has faced financial troubles in the past. He has amassed more than $200,000 in back taxes over the past seven years stemming from 2016, 2017 and 2018 liens, In Touch exclusively confirmed.
Travis has a state tax lien from his home state of Ohio for $46,579 from June 2016. According to Franklin county online record, the lien is still active. However, In Touch confirmed it has been paid off.
Travis was hit with a $64,198 state tax lien in Ohio, and it is currently listed as active, according to Franklin county online records. Additionally, the athlete faced a $909 state tax lien in Ohio from December 2018, according to Cuyahoga county online records viewed by In Touch.
He had two additional tax liens, including a $77,128 federal tax lien from June 2017 and a $111,123 tax lien from the state of California in August 2018. However, both tax liens have since been released.
The NFL star opened up about his past money troubles in 2023 when he revealed why he decided to star on the dating show Catching Kelce in 2016. “I turned down the show about 100 times [at first], it felt like,” he said. “I was having so much buying whatever the hell I wanted to, going wherever the hell I wanted to. I wasn’t financially looking at this as, you know, I need to have money down the line. [But] there were times in the offseason … I was avoiding the rent lady. It was that bad.
