Most of Travis’ income comes from his career as a professional football player. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2013 NFL Draft, and he helped the team win Super Bowls LIV and LVII.
Travis signed a four-year extension contract with the Chiefs for $57,250,000 in 2023, which averages to an annual salary of $14,312,500.
Following his third Super Bowl victory in February 2024, Travis signed a two-year extension with the Chiefs in April 2024. While the exact amount was not disclosed, multiple reports claimed that the new deal solidified Travis as the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

The athlete filed six trademark requests in Ohio in October 2023, according to online records viewed by In Touch. Travis requested to trademark his name, as well as the phrases “Flight 87,” “Alright Nah,” “KillaTrav” and “Kelce’s Krunch.” He regularly uses “Alright Nah” as his signature catchphrase, while “KillaTrav” is his Instagram handle and “Flight 87” references his Chiefs jersey number.
Meanwhile, Travis’ next business endeavor will likely be in fashion. A source told Entertainment Tonight that his brand, Tru Kolors, has partnered with the Chiefs to release a merchandise collaboration. The insider said that the deal seems like a natural move for Travis because he”has always had a passion for fashion.”
What Money Problems Has Travis Kelce Had?
Despite earning an impressive salary, Travis has faced financial troubles in the past. He has amassed more than $200,000 in back taxes over the past seven years stemming from 2016, 2017 and 2018 liens, In Touch exclusively confirmed.
Travis has a state tax lien from his home state of Ohio for $46,579 from June 2016. According to Franklin county online record, the lien is still active. However, In Touch confirmed it has been paid off.
Travis was hit with a $64,198 state tax lien in Ohio, and it is currently listed as active, according to Franklin county online records. Additionally, the athlete faced a $909 state tax lien in Ohio from December 2018, according to Cuyahoga county online records viewed by In Touch.
He had two additional tax liens, including a $77,128 federal tax lien from June 2017 and a $111,123 tax lien from the state of California in August 2018. However, both tax liens have since been released.
The NFL star opened up about his past money troubles in 2023 when he revealed why he decided to star on the dating show Catching Kelce in 2016. “I turned down the show about 100 times [at first], it felt like,” he said. “I was having so much buying whatever the hell I wanted to, going wherever the hell I wanted to. I wasn’t financially looking at this as, you know, I need to have money down the line. [But] there were times in the offseason … I was avoiding the rent lady. It was that bad. I heard about this situation where I could make six figures in two weeks and I was like, ‘Uhhh …’ And 50 ladies? I’m like, ‘This is actually starting to sound a little better.’”
Is Travis Kelce Dating Taylor Swift?
After sending the internet into a frenzy in July 2023 when Travis announced he was “butt hurt” that he didn’t get to meet Taylor at her Eras tour stop in Kansas City, the two ended up connecting after all. Rumors that they had been hanging out began in September but were confirmed when the “Enchanted” songstress showed up to support the tight end as his Chiefs took on the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead stadium on September 24.
Taylor enjoyed the game from Travis’ suite, accompanied by his childhood friends and his mom, Donna Kelce. After the Chiefs’ win, the rumored couple were spotted exiting the stadium in Travis’ vintage Chevelle convertible before heading to his after-party.
“I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend,” Travis said as he rehashed their night out on the September 27 episode of his podcast, “New Heights.” “Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy.”
He continued, “Everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about [her]. She looked amazing and everybody was talking about her in great light.”
Following the September outing, Taylor has continued to cheer Travis on at several of his games and he has traveled internationally to watch her Eras tour. Additionally, the pair even packed on the PDA during an outing in New York City in October. As of April 2024, they are going strong.
