Don’t mess with the mama! Selena Gomez‘s mom, Mandy Teefey, slammed a fan on Instagram for asking how the young singer is doing after the 42-year-old posted an update about someone she loves being in pain. Although, to be fair, she did try to make it clear her post was not about her daughter, and maybe she’s received a lot of nosy comments from Selena fans lately and is over it.

After Selena reportedly checked herself into a treatment center in October after she allegedly suffered a mental breakdown, it’s understandable that fans might be concerned about her. But apparently, Mandy was not in the mood when one of them asked “Is Sel ok?” in the comments of a post she made to Instagram on Nov. 22. Watch the video above to see how she responded and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Mandy posted an image that read, “Two things define you, your patience when you have nothing, your attitude when you have everything.” She then included a long caption that began, “The importance of the word ‘Thanksgiving’ shouldn’t be a holiday. It should be two separate words we live by daily ‘Thanks’ and ‘Giving’. Thankful for anything and everyone that is a ride or die person in your life. Give whatever you can because you are blessed to do so.”

But then she went on to talk about a man who recently slapped her and called her “a pretty vulgar name,” and how she’s “not going to stop giving because evil can change your heart.” Which is a lovely sentiment, for sure, but she ended the post by asking people to “Pray for my friend who is in pain, but my family is not going to be together so he is not alone! GIVE LOVE EMBRACE,” so the post was honestly a little all over the place.

So when an Instagram user asked about Selena, who knows exactly what Mandy was thinking when she responded so strongly, then shut down comments on the post. I guess she really didn’t want to deal with any intrusive questions over the holiday weekend!

Back in February, E! News reported that Selena completed a two-week treatment program for depression and anxiety. She also checked into rehab in 2014 after she was diagnosed with lupus. So Selena’s latest troubles — like her choice to seek treatment after suffering an emotional breakdown due to complications from her kidney transplant and after having panic attacks — aren’t totally out of the blue, but they’re nonetheless very serious and it makes sense that her fans are concerned about her well-being.

Hopefully, Selena is doing much better these days, and Mandy just isn’t up for answering fan inquiries into her daughter’s personal life.
