One minute, Bethenny Frankel was enjoying a meal. The next, she was fighting for her life. Just before Christmas, the Real Housewives of New York star suffered a near-fatal allergic reaction to seafood that landed her in the intensive care unit of a Boston hospital for two days. While recovering at home after the nightmare, Bethenny began counting her blessings.

The 48-year-old Bravo star has been trying to maintain a positive outlook on life, but it hasn’t been easy. Her hospitalization in December was just the latest in a laundry list of devastation Bethenny has dealt with this year — and at this point, she’s desperate for relief. “Hands down, Bethenny has had the worst year of her life,” an insider told Life & Style magazine. “She looked back and was amazed by everything she’s gone through. She’s hoping and praying 2019 is drama-free.”

Before her own brush with death, Bethenny was hit hard by the fatal drug overdose of her on-again, off-again boyfriend Dennis Shields and the passing of her sweet pup, Cookie. But that was just the beginning. Her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, reopened their custody battle over 8-year-old daughter Bryn, keeping her divorce drama in high gear. And after falling out with most of her fellow RHONY pals, including BFF Carole Radziwill, she could no longer rely on the support system she used to have. “Just when Bethenny believed things were really getting better, something else would happen,” the insider said. “She really thought that she was cursed.”

Apparently, Bethenny is so convinced that someone has put “a hex” on her, she sought out some professional help. “She’s gone to psychics and spiritual advisors, she’s done sage cleanses and bought crystals,” the insider revealed. But while she has found comfort in healers and candles, not to mention her new boyfriend, Paul Bernon, Bethenny is feeling warier than ever as she prepares for 2019. At least she has her daughter and new beau to help keep things positive — they are the “only bright light” in her life, according to the source.
