It looks like Pete Davidson is laughing again just two weeks after he posted an alarming Instagram message for the world to see. On Dec. 31, the SNL comedian got candid with the crowd at the Chevalier Theatre in Boston, MA, about his relationship with his ex-fiancé Ariana Grande. The 25-year-old revealed that after their broken engagement, he cried at the table with his mom.

Even though the breakup was tough on Pete, he revealed that he learned a lot. “It made me see how ugly people can get, and how cool people can be,” he said.

The New York native told a story where Ari’s hit song “thank u, next” premiered just 30 minutes before he had to perform on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 3. “That s–t came out before I had to put on a f–king duck hat and be like, ‘derrp here’s the pizza!’ So all my friends were there. It was a sad day. We didn’t know it was going to happen,” he confessed. However, he admitted that all his friends thought the song was “catchy.”

Pete said that while a lot of artists don’t name their exes in songs, “this diabolical genius named all of us,” he joked about Ariana. In the music video, Ari even referenced the size of Pete’s private parts, but he thinks she just has really tiny hands.

The TV star has gotten a lot of flack after his breakup and opened up to his fans on Instagram about bullying. “I’ve kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything,” he wrote on Dec. 3. “I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. Especially in today’s climate where everybody loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind-boggling.”

Hopefully, 2019 is a better year for Pete!
