Miley Cyrus Says Parents Used to ‘Forbid’ Their Kids From Listening to Her Albums Because She Was a ‘Bad Influence’

She can’t be tamed! We know Miley Cyrus can be a bit ~edgy,~ but the pop star recently revealed that some guardians wouldn’t let their children listen to her tunes back in the day. “I remember when kids’ parents TRIED to forbid them from buying my records, watching my videos, coming to the concert[s] because I was a ‘bad influence,’” the 26-year-old captioned a photo of herself showing off her abs on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, October 16. “Were you one of those kids? Did YOU do it anyway?!?!”

The “Slide Away” crooner used to play squeaky-clean Hannah Montana on Disney Channel from 2006 to 2011, and then afterward, Miley admitted she needed to spread her wings and shed her good girl persona. When asked if she ever wanted to break out of the Hannah Montana character while she was on the show, she responded, “I did once. I was 18 because it felt ridiculous,” she told Elle magazine in August. “The minute I had sex, I was just kind of like, I can’t put the f—king wig on again. It got weird. It just felt like … I was grown up.”

Now, the blonde beauty is actually proud of the character she once played. “I feel like I’m just not ashamed of that anymore,” she explained. “It’s pretty cool when you hear Cardi B was listening to Hannah Montana when she was in high school. That s—t makes me happy.”

Despite twerking on stage at the VMAs in 2013 and buying her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, a penis cake for his birthday, the Tennessee native has come a long way since then. These days, Miley is in a new relationship with her boyfriend, Cody Simpson, and it seems like they are happier than ever.

The 22-year-old Australia native revealed he was “not single” to In Touch and other reporters at the Tiffany & Co. Men’s Collections Launch at the Hollywood Athletic Club, Los Angeles on October 11. “I’m very happy. Yeah, I’m very, very happy,” he gushed about his lady. “She’s creative, she’s very passionate about what she does and I’m very similar in that sense, that’s why we get along so well. We just have a ball and that’s the most important part of a relationship.”

Even though Cody and Miley were pals before they took their relationship to the next level, he revealed why they work so well now. “We’ve been friends for so long that when we sort of found each other again in a space where … we both met back in the day when we were partying a lot, working real hard and just like keeps things healthy.”

Well, it seems like Miley is a healthy place with her new beau, and we’re living for it!
