Cody Simpson Confirms He’s ‘Not Single,’ Gushes About Relationship With Miley Cyrus: ‘I’m Happy’

Cuffing season! Cody Simpson confirmed he is “not single” amid his new romance with pop star Miley Cyrus. The Australian singer, 22, opened up about his relationship with Miley, 26, and gushed over their bond.

“I’m very happy. Yeah, I’m very, very happy, so …” Cody told In Touch and other reporters at the Tiffany & Co. Men’s Collections Launch at the Hollywood Athletic Club, Los Angeles on Saturday, October 11 after confirming their relationship.

The “La Da Dee” singer also gushed about what drew him to the former Disney star. “She’s creative, she’s very passionate about what she does and I’m very similar in that sense, that’s why we get along so well,” he added. “We just have a ball and that’s the most important part of a relationship. It’s like … we’ve been friends … the reason why it’s not like … it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is we’ve been friends for so long that when we sort of found each other again in a space where … we both met back in the day when we were partying a lot. We had a lot of fun then. But now we’ve found each other in a space where we’re not partying, working real hard and just like keeps things healthy.”

Cody couldn’t explain what made them decide to take their friendship to the next level, but he did agree that being friends with Miley first is what helped kickstart their current romance. “It breaks the ice,” he said. “That had never happened to me before. Any girlfriend that I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s kind of like a different experience having been friends with somebody before and developing that into something more. It’s just like a very natural, healthy feeling.”

Another thing that Cody shares in common with the “Slide Away” singer is their star status, and he explained their relationship is stronger because they both understand each other’s lifestyles. “It’s just that I just have someone to come back to and someone who supports you,” Cody said. “I’m very busy now working on my album and that’s kind of been … I’m out most of the day doing that and so it’s nice to be able to come home to somebody who gets it and understands you. I try to do the same for her and give her stuff. We always have as friends and now it’s just a little different.”

Cody and Miley have been an item ever since they were spotted packing on the PDA during an acai bowl morning date on October 3. And it seems like in the week since they sparked up a romance, the blonde beauty has even inspired Cody musically.

“I wrote her a song this week that she’s pretty much forcing me to put out. She’s like, ‘If you don’t put this shit out, I’m putting it out on your behalf for you. I’m getting your Spotify login and doing this s–t myself,’ and I was just like, ‘Alright, alright I’ll do it.’ So I recorded it this week, I’m gonna put it up next week. It’s something I wrote for her while she was sick this week,” Cody said.

Miley shared a little clip of the song when Cody serenaded her with it while she was in the hospital recovering from tonsilitis. But thankfully, she is on the mend now and Cody shared an update on her condition. “She’s alright. She’s in bed. She had surgery,” he said.
