Mariah Carey Wins the #BottleCapChallenge and Ex Nick Cannon Is All About It
Pop princess, Mariah Carey, has yet again blown the world away with her glass shattering vocals. This time she’s popping bottles, literally, and [her] ex-husband Nick Cannon is taking notice. The five-time Grammy award winner was one of the many celebs to participate in the viral #bottlecapchallenge, though in true Mariah fashion, she added her own spin.
The ice bucket-esque challenge calls for participants to kick a loosened cap off of a bottle of their choosing.
Simply kicking the cap off like the rest of the world would have been too easy for this queen. Instead, she zoned in on the prize, put her finger to her ear, and let her pipes do to the work. That legendary high note sent that cap flying.
The “All I Want for Christmas is You” singer posted the video on Sunday, July 7, for her 8.2 million Instagram followers. Among the comments from raving fans came a flood of celebrity recognition, including Nick, the father of her twins Moroccan and Monroe, 8.
“Hilarious!!!!” the 38-year-old commented. The former couple were married for eight years before splitting up back in 2016. In an exclusive interview with In Touch back in February 2018, Nick described Mariah as a “Nourishing and giving individual.” When asked if they would ever get back together, Nick simply said, “In my dreams, maybe!” Aww isn’t it nice when exes can get along?!
Apart from the Wild n’ Out star, many other celebs were quick to praise the pop diva. “This is what they call a win,” wrote Ruby Rose, while Rita Ora added, “You win hands down.”
Several of Hollywood’s elite joined in on the viral challenge such as John Mayer, Justin Bieber, Ellie Goulding, and Diplo.
Although, not every bottle cap challenge ended in victory. Blake Shelton attempted the challenge with a bottle of his own brand of vodka, Smithworks, though he wasted several shots when his karate kick sent the bottle flying. “Oh, god. What have I done? What have I done?!” cried the country star, 43.
Heartthrob Ryan Reynolds also had an epic bottle cap challenge fail when he shattered his own brand Aviation Gin all over his trailer. This is what happens when you try and plug your own liquor brands, gentlemen.
As for Mariah, no high kicks needed, just high notes and a lot of attitude.
