‘Real Housewives of New York’ Star Luann de Lesseps Thinks Demi Lovato’s Sobriety Journey Is ‘Inspirational’
You never know who you’re going to help with your story. In fact, Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps took comfort in another high-profile tale of sobriety while dealing with her own recovery — the journey of singer Demi Lovato.
“You know who’s really been inspirational also, is Demi Lovato,” the 54-year-old RHONY OG told Access in an interview. “Because she’s been very public about her struggle and I think it’s important. I think a lot of people are struggling and they don’t know how to help themselves.”
The visibility is so important for those who are having difficulty with sobriety. Most people just want to know they’re not the only one dealing with this type of overwhelming battle. Luckily, they have a great role model in Luann, who told the outlet how well she’s been doing lately.
“I’m doing great,” the cabaret star continued. “I am almost at 90 days [sober], and that’s amazing. It’s been difficult, and doing it in the public eye has been even more difficult, so I take it day by day … I’m at the point where I can finally go to a party now and not drink and I’m OK with that.”
The Bravo babe continued to explain that though it’s taken a while for her to make it this far in her journey, she really has “learned a lot” about herself. To say she’s grateful for where she’s landed after all her struggles would be an understatement.
Luann even shouted out her boss at the network, Andy Cohen, revealing he has “also been very supportive” in her journey to get back on the right track with sobriety.
The Connecticut native was arrested for disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement officer charges following an incident at the Colony Hotel on Christmas Eve back in 2017. After the debacle, she checked into rehab in early 2018 to address her alcoholism.
