Jill Dillard (née Duggar) might not like getting caught in the rain, but she certainly enjoyed her alcoholic piña colada on a date night with husband Derick Dillard. The Counting On alum shaded trolls who asked if she was sipping on a virgin beverage during their romantic outing.

“We’ve missed our regular date night outings during COVID and had lots of in-home dates, but we were able to swap childcare with friends last night for a date!” the mother of two, 29, captioned her post. Afterward, Jill responded to a social media user wanting to know whether or not she was having the drink with rum.

The TLC alum confirmed it was indeed a “regular” piña colada and was praised by many of her followers. “Good for you!” one wrote. “You go, girl!” another added. Jill later posted about her “regular” coffee on Thursday, September 10, further shading the people who were shocked.

Jill’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, don’t drink alcohol and the children in the famous brood have also been taught to abstain from booze. In a 2014 interview, Jill and sister Jessa Duggar spoke on the topic in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

At the time, Jessa said they had tried it, but “not on purpose.” Jill explained they were “really heavily involved in politics, and sometimes it’s one of those fancy, ritzy events and they serve you what you think is punch, and it’s not.” She added, “You’re like, ‘Oops, yeah, that wasn’t punch. That was champagne or something.'”

In recent years, Jill has come into her own, even in her sense of style. The TV personality and her hubby have distanced themselves from her family amid Derick’s feud with her father. Because she cares about both of them, Jill has been trying to “stay out of it,” an insider exclusively told In Touch in May.

“It’s no secret that Jim Bob doesn’t approve of his son-in-law, but he does love his daughter Jill, and he will stand by her choices,” the insider said. “Jill and her parents are on good terms. She chats with them all the time.”

Even though Derick previously blasted the TLC show as well as his father-in-law, the law student recently said they could return to the series “someday.”

Never say never!
