From the small screen to the silver screen! Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino may have just surrendered himself to federal prison, but he’s continuing to make moves even from behind bars. Mike, 36, is set to make his big film debut in the upcoming movie A Violent Man, and insiders exclusively revealed to In Touch that while Mike is excited about the film’s release, he’s sad that he won’t be able to make it to the premiere. “Mike is very supportive of the film and was happy to be a part of it,” an insider exclusively revealed to In Touch.

“He’s bummed he can’t make the premiere. He might be doing a Skyped appearance from prison which will be his first movie premiere appearance from prison. We’re still working on figuring that out,” the source continued.
Unfortunately, Mike’s rep tells In Touch, “While Mike is excited the movie is premiering, he is unable to support via Skype or a recorded interview. But his wife Lauren Sorrentino will be supporting [the film] via his and her social media.”

A Violent Man, directed by Matthew Berkowitz, is a contemporary noir film with a classic murder mystery spin. Former NFL star Thomas Q. Jones plays the lead character, Ty, who is an unknown MMA fighter who gains overnight fame after he beats an undefeated champion at a local gym. But the underdog champ becomes a murder suspect after a female reporter covering the story is found dead.

Mike, 36, plays the character of Boomer, and he will star alongside Thomas, as well as actress Denise Richards and MMA star Chuck Liddell. “Boomer is a random guy who appears at a bar with friends,” an insider said, describing Mike’s role in the film.

“He’s a regular at the strip club and ends up meeting Ty at the bar while watching the fight on the TV. He’s a fan of the World Champion fighter…They get into a fight and he files a police report against Ty afterwards.”

A Violent Man will be released in limited theaters in select cities (L.A., Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Tampa and Norfolk) on February 8, and will also be available on Video On Demand.

As for Mike? The Jersey Shore star began his 8-month prison sentencing for tax fraud at the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, NY, on Tuesday, January 15.

According to Radar Online, the newlywed will be there until September 13, 2019 — but there’s a chance he might not have to stay the whole time.

“On such a short sentence of 8 months, they will send him to a halfway house for two to three months at the end,” Dan Wise, a Federal Prison Consultant and Expert told Radar. “Because of who he is, he may even get home confinement.”

On January 17, Mike’s wife, Lauren Sorrentino,updated fans from Mike’s Twitter account on how he’s doing in prison. “Hi everyone, it’s Lauren,” she wrote. “Mike would like to thank all of his fans worldwide for the unbelievable outpouring of love and support. We speak every day and he’s doing great. He’s received thousands of letters, he won’t be able to respond to everyone but wanted to express his gratitude to each and every one of you.”

She continued, “Thank you from the both of us; it is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time. Lots of love, Michael & Lauren Sorrentino.”
