‘Jersey Shore’ Star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino’s Prison Release Date Revealed
It looks like Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino won’t be getting his GTL on this summer! On Tuesday, January 15, The Jersey Store star began his 8-month prison sentence for tax fraud at the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, NY. The newlywed will be there until September 13, 2019, Radar reported.
The MTV personality, 36, may not even stay the whole time. “On such a short sentence of 8 months, they will send him to a halfway house for two to three months at the end,” Dan Wise, a Federal Prison Consultant and Expert spilled to the outlet. “Because of who he is, he may even get home confinement.”
To recap, Mike pled guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018. “What the defendants admitted to today, quite simply, is tantamount to stealing money from their fellow taxpayers,” U.S. Attorney Carpenito said in a press release at the time. “All of us are required by law to pay our fair share of taxes. Celebrity status does not provide a free pass from this obligation.”
On January 17, his wife, Lauren Sorrentino, née Pesce, updated fans from Mike’s Twitter account to tell them how her hubby is doing in the slammer. “Hi everyone, it’s Lauren,” she wrote. “Mike would like to thank all of his fans worldwide for the unbelievable outpouring of love and support. We speak every day and he’s doing great. He’s received thousands of letters, he won’t be able to respond to everyone but wanted to express his gratitude to each and every one of you.”

She continued, “Thank you from the both of us; it is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time. Lots of love, Michael & Lauren Sorrentino.”
Lauren, 34, is trying to stay positive throughout this whole um … situation. “If you have ever been through someone getting sober through recovery, if you come out on the other side of that successful and in a positive way, anything is possible,” she told Us Weekly. “Like he said, a blip in the radar and not a concern for us.”
