Isabel Rock Opens Up About ‘Intimidating’ Life as an Artist: ‘You Can Start to Feel Kind of Bad About Yourself’
She’s keeping it real. Isabel Rock spoke candidly with her followers about life as an artist in a new video posted to her Instagram Stories on June 30. Jacob Roloff’s fiancée said her line of work is rewarding, but her passion also comes with some pitfalls that she’s still learning to deal with.
“I have no idea why I’m laying on the floor … my hair is a rat’s nest,” Isabel, 23, began. “Um, I was just talking to a friend about this earlier today and I was just talking about how when somebody doesn’t buy your work, or if you’re in a line of work that is completely reliant on others … you can start to feel kind of bad about yourself if people aren’t resonating with your work,” she explained.
“As far as being an artist goes, that means that you are completely reliant on others resonating with your artwork in particular, and that’s a piece of your soul, so that can be kind of intimidating or I don’t know … scary to put yourself out there,” Isabel (a.k.a Izzy) continued in the clip. “Yeah, so I’d rather have a piece go to somebody who really wants it and have it take a while, then go into the wrong hands.” Isabel also posted another selfie to her Instagram Stories afterwards and addressed how proud she was of herself for posting that makeup-free video without overthinking it.
On her Instagram profile, Isabel features her work as a photographer and artist, even tagging her specific page Art By Izzy Rock. She also shares the website Rock + Roloff with her future husband. “Jacob and I created a site where all of our thoughts, art, and future video content we create can live,” she wrote about their collaboration, which includes some of his writing and her paintings.
Luckily, both Isabel and Jacob, 22, support each other fully. The couple got engaged on Christmas day in 2017 when Jacob asked for her hand in marriage during a trip to Iceland. It won’t be long until these two tie the knot as Isabel announced their nuptials will take place on September 7, 2019.
Jacob’s mom, Amy Roloff, shared new photos from her bachelorette party on June 24, and revealed they had an absolute blast. “What a fantastic night — a campfire on the beach — to celebrate @artbyizzyrock at her BACHORELETTE party [with] friends, [sisters-in-law] and I — the MIL got to tag along too. We had a great and special time! The wedding day is near!”
