Congrats? HGTV took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 8 to reveal they’ve picked up 15 more episodes of Flip or Flop. Unfortunately, people were less than thrilled with the news. The stars of the show, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, are no longer together and now many are calling the program “fake.”

Following the announcement, one person wrote on Instagram, “Why? I change the channel when they come on!” Another wrote, “So friggen [sic] fake,” and a third added, “I just don’t like the negativity with them now; they criticize each other on TV. Nobody wants to see their issues on the screen. I did love their style. I just can’t take the drama now. Good luck to them though. For the kids’ sake.”

The beloved HGTV couple shocked fans with their split announcement back in December 2016 — and then again when the father-of-two filed for divorce one month later. The drama seemingly began when they hired Gary Anderson — an “older, wealthy divorcée” — as a contractor when they decided to redo their pool back in 2015.

“Christina grew close to Gary,” an insider told In Touch exclusively at the time. “Tarek was suspicious that she was getting involved with someone but had no concrete evidence.” That changed in May 2016. “Tarek saw Christina’s phone and [believed] there was some inappropriate texting going on between Christina and Gary,” the insider noted, adding that that incident led to police responding to “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun.”

Although Christina is now happily dating British babe Ant Anstead, Tarek seems to be struggling a bit more post-breakup. Recently, he revealed he could “barely walk” following back surgery, and to make matters worse, his ex-wife now has her own spin-off on the popular network. On June 27, the 34-year-old announced that her new design series, Christina on the Coast, is set to premiere in early 2019 and Tarek, 36, “is extremely jealous,” a separate source told us.

At the end of the day though, it seems like these two will do whatever it takes in the name of money. “We’re able to work together because we’re best friends,” Tarek once said. “We love what we do, and we love each other.”
